Casino Smoke

Recommended Posts

I believe I recall some ships compasses say “while playing “ but don’t save compasses.

I don't know that I believe that. That's certainly tough to enforce. If somebody is smoking while playing a slot machine, for example, and their friend is standing in back of them (within the designated smoking area) watching, you're saying that only the person hitting the button on the machine is allowed to smoke, according to Royal.

I agree, it's tough. I think the policy is meant mostly to apply to the smokers who stand just inside doorway to the casino.

What about when the Casino is closed? Tons of smokers in there.

Ok...let me state, I'm a smoker. I hope the casino does not become non smoking. I also hope that they place an indoor room for cigar and cigarette smokers. Just my POV.

Why aren’t smokers considerate of non smokers and polluting them with second hand smoke.

I believe the Casinos will be smoke free soon.

The Casino is NOT a smoking lounge although people seem to use it as such.

The casino is designated as an allowable smoking venue. It was listed in a recent ( September 2018) Oasis Compass as the allowable indoor smoking area. You do not need to play, you can simply sit at any machine and smoke. There are signs that table chairs are for players only. The casino is open all day/night even if machines and tables are closed as it is the smoking lounge.

Signage in the non smoking side is very poor, often non existent. I watched many passengers lighting up in the non smoking areas.

Really a mess!

Your problem is with the cruise line and not the smokers. The smokers are abiding by the rules - you appear to want to change those rules.

If smoking is allowed in designated areas and people are smoking within those designated areas then they aren't in violation of anything.

I didn't see any policy that says you must be gambling to smoke in the designated smoking areas of the Casino. Maybe those people are taking a break from gambling.

Agreed - In most cases, NO need to gamble, to smoke in the casino. There are however signs that you must be playing to sit at a table. That is all.

Anyone can sit at any machine and not play.

There is even a sitting area (several sets of 4 chairs around a small cocktail table) near the casino bar on Oasis. Some sets of chairs are non smoking, other are a smoking area. In fact, the chairs/cocktail tables in the smoking area are near a TV that often shows a sporting event. Lots were hanging out there to watch a game. Other venues that show the game do not allow smoking.

I agree 100% ..we pay fare just the same as you....so why should be not be treated the same..already pushed into small areas,

Well most casinos are not small closed off spaces

They are now massive open air spaces that are in the middle level of an open air atrium so the smoke goes throughout the ship there is no denying that

On the ncl getaway/breakaway etc several venues are filled with smoke because of this ....shops...le bistro..headliners etc

I'm done with ncl and if my next cruise on the navigator is smoke filled I will go to celebrity and yes I know who owns celebrity

I absolutely want the rules changed. A completely non smoking fleet would be wonderful. I hope that the rumors are true.

Dream on. Now smoke free casinos fleetwide is more realistic.

I totally agree.

The cruise ship operators are really upsetting the majority of their pax by still allowing any smoking at all in an indoor venue. I.e. The casino

In this day and age where everything has to be PC it's insulting that the ships still allow indoor smoking even if just in the casino

Shows how much they consider their pax health and well being especially since so few pax actually smoke

It just appears that lots of pax smoke because they all pack into the casino to smoke not gamble

Disclaimer: don't say go sail on X because I shouldn't have to do that unless I want to. What needs to happen is to eliminate smoking at all indoor venues on all ships on all lines. However I would actually concede to a additional smoking casino as long as it was in a remote corner of the ship and not near anyplace any pax would want to go to and that it was totally vented out to sea and not waifing back into a 3 story atrium near food venues

When I as on the EOTS a few months ago every time I went into the casino I ended up leaving and not playing because of the smoke.

The $25 or $50 blackjack tables were up by themselves an seemed nice but I don't bet $50-100 per hand

Its not like I am going to go to the pit boss and tell him why I am not playing.

I didn't have any issues with smoke onboard except in the casino.

RC needs to measure "why customers don't visit the casino" so they know what the potential loss/gain is.
