Casino Smoke

Recommended Posts

What they need is better ventilation and close the doors to contain the smoke as well as clean and replace the carpets often. Also they need to find a path so that people sensitive to smoke do not have to pass through the casino to reach other public areas like The Schooner Bar along with signs to avoid the Casino both for kids and those who are offended by the smell etc.

Just eliminate all inside smoking areas.

Actually it’s not allowed on most ships. Just not enforced.

The cruise Compass normally lists the permitted smoking areas. The Casino is indeed listed for those that are playing. Not for those not playing.

Most all compasses I recall, have the wording while playing.

Bet you cant find a cruise compass that actually states "while playing"

Well, at 62 years old, it's my first cruise, so, who knows.... (and yes, it was one of the first questions I asked before I booked the cruise)

Enjoy your cruise. Since smoking is currently allowed in the casinos, light'em if ya got 'em. That's what they would tell us in basic training when we were allowed to smoke.

Smokers do have some rights as well. Why should I have to stand in the pouring rain to smoke? The casino is in business to make money for the ship and are tryng to cater to everyone.

Exactly what rights do you think smokers are entitled too?

Aren’t non smokers entitled to clean air in common/shared areas. All outdoor smoking areas I am aware of are covered. You feel it’s your right to pollute our air? Give me a break.

Yep, I remember that from BT as well! Unfortunately (as a smoker and I was one of the older ones in my flight). it made smokers out of those who never smoked a day in their life - a chance to get outside; otherwise you had to inside in some instances.

One day, I really hope to say "I used to smoke"...

Possibly someday. I quit cold turkey after smoking for 26 years and have been smoke free for 27 years.

My complaint is not about a player smoking, but the crowds of folks in the casino just to smoke. Easy to spot the difference. Folks are gathering around entranceways no where near machines. Other are sitting at a machine with their backs to the machine because they are not playing, just smoking And often there will be two folks sitting side by side not playing just smoking and then their (smoking) friends will stand across from them. So now there are 5 non players, but all smokers next to me.

The casino is not making extra money These non players are not gambling and the non smokers can't get a machine they want or can't take the smoke.

And, we took three cruises in the past four weeks and EACH cruise had someone smoking in the casino nonsmoking area.

If the cruise line has to have a smoking lounge, I wish it was a designated area for smokers only so non smokers don't have to suffer.

I agree. However, Royal is not going to take revenue areas and create smoking areas. Most ships used to have a cigar lounge but those seem to be going away during drydock.

Celebrity is the only line I know of with smoke free casinos. Does anyone know of any others?

MSC did last summer. I live in Ohio and it's smoke free inside the casinos here. I'm not really sure that I have been anywhere around smokers inside a building in like 15 years (it's illegal statewide here), so being in the casino on the ship around it will be a change. Did someone say that there is a non-smoking section of the casino?

There is about half and half. But the smoke still seems to flow all over and out of the Casino.

Thanks. I can imagine that the smoke makes it way to everything. I remember eating as a kid at tiny little KFC restaurants where they would have two tables designated non-smoking right next to all the rest that were smoking lol.

Well I must say when I started this I didn't expect it to morph as it has. At least no one has gotten really snippy. My parents both died of emphysema so maybe I'm a little touchy on the subject. That said, we enjoyed our RC cruises for the most part. If they could just ventilate the smoke a little we'd continue with them.
