Okay, this news about allowing smoking on the Waterfront has me pretty upset. I was coping okay-ish with the diminished public deck space and how that meant that more of the sun worshipers might be encroaching on my quiet spaces, but now they smokers get my Waterfront? This might be the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

Usually, the name of the ship is selected before the godparent is chosen. I don't believe that Ms. Trump named the ship.

But her ship has the largest kart track at sea AND her ship has observation lounges....but her ship is ugly-looking....

I’ve been enjoying all of the discussion on the other ships. I’m new to cruising and actually booked my 1st NCL cruise on the Encore without knowing it would be a new ship. Because of all the discussion, I’ve also booked cruises on the Escape and Getaway. I want to see what all the fuss is about Spice H2O!! I also want to experience it before it’s removed from those ships too 😬

Elvis Duran probably has the most bragging rights.  I think BLISS will go down as the best in this class.  Spice H20, improved layout, and the observation lounges.  Still the bells and whistles but also offers those the space that just enjoy a lounge chair in the sun.

Nah... the track will always disqualify it.  The other big negatives... no Howl, and the narrowing of the public spaces through the 6-7-8 corridor and the subsequent removal of entertainment in Manhattan Room.  NCL peaked with the Escape.  Not even close.

Having sailed the ESCAPE I hardly agree. Overly crowded and no observation lounges.  The ship left me cold and unimpressed.  I actually preferred GETAWAY over ESCAPE.  BLISS is a step up in so many ways, even the decor.  

 

The track means nothing to me. To each their own.

No doubt - the Bliss is a great looking ship.  I just think all of the changes killed the vibe.

Fair enough.  I suppose we all have our likes and dislikes.  For me ESCAPE was a let down after GETAWAY.

Over-dramatic here. There was smoking on the water front when I sailed the getaway. It was a 20 ft length area by one of the bars.

 

The waterfront stretches all the way around the ship. This is in no way the smokers 'getting YOUR waterfront'.

I'm pretty sure they have since eliminated that spot for smoking.

You may be understating the impact, as Getaway also has a smoking area on the upper decks.  If you’ve seen the dedicated area in Spice on the Bliss, I agree that it’s rather undesirable to inject that into the middle of the Waterfront.  Especially if those around the pool deck have to travel down through 6-7-8 inside areas each time they want to light up.

non-smokers just look at smokers as a nuisance. I am also paying for my vacation and want to enjoy it, with a cigarette.

So Deck 8 portside - I'm guessing this will be around the Sugarcane on the Waterfront bar area?  Anything else and it'll conflict with Onda / Cagney's on the Waterfront. 

 

Just when I thought NCL was making progress with the smoking situation... they plop the smoking area in the middle of the Waterfront.  I guess the Spice elimination continues to cause unfavorable consequences.  

 

So happy to hear about the smoking section on the ship...a place to relax with our drinks and have a cigarette...

I am excited about sailing the Encore on October 25, 2020. While I do love Spice, I'll reserve judgement until I come back from my sailing. Maybe Encore will be ok without it.

Just put down my beer and saw "2020" ... thought the post was about the TA.  Ya, Ottawa_Cruiser is going to miss the Spice on a three-sea day cruise to Bermuda.  Maybe they will close the track for a few hours and let you bring a towel to lay out.
