Gary72 Posted February 7, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2018 On our December Allure cruise, we made reservations about a month before departure. Many of the times were already taken and we opted for 5:30...

rmurray847 Posted February 7, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 7, 2018 Can you just show up rather than making reservations? The times left aren't appealing.:(:( :( Yes, you can, although you may have a longer wait (not surprising). Also, we find that once onboard, you might be able to go directly to the MDR and suddenly, there are more times available. They clearly don't open up every table for their online reservations. While these days we do try to reserve in advance, in the past, we've also had great luck just reserving when we board (for the first day) and then at the end of dinner, we reserve for the next day on our way out. One nice thing about some vague attempt at reservations is that you will often be given the same wait staff, which can be nice.
travelplus Posted February 7, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 7, 2018 I booked our MTD when it opened up with the knowledge that it can be changed at any time. Since we like to dine around 6 PM on our Trans Atlantics in the past I selected this time for every night except the first two nights as we have the Specialty Dining Package and 7 PM for Dublin(which we may not even go to as we would have had a large late lunch or Dinner in Dublin at a Pub). To me its a no brainier to prebook as much of your cruise as possible just so you don't get disappointed later. You never know what will happen once on board or closer to your sailing date. Any shore excursion can be cancelled online before you sail or at least 48 hours before the excursion onboard. Especially you can use most OBC to purchase items in your cruise planner online so that is a nice perk.
karena1 Posted February 7, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 7, 2018 We have done MTD since it started. The whole point is FLEXIBILITY! We rarely make reservations and hardly ever have more than a 5 minute wait. They try to make you make reservations but you don't need to! If you have a large party, then yes, reservations are good. But it is just the 2 of us, so we just go when we feel like it and it is all good.
Fastoes Posted February 7, 2018 #12 Share Posted February 7, 2018 The best way to make your dining and show plans is to actually call the booking number. I made reservations on line last night but today they disappeared. It was fast and easy once I called. Sent from my iPad using Forums
