Rare CatLadyFemme Posted February 26, 2018 Author #27 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Leaving the hotel and heading to the pier. We are lowly Gold C&A members (at least until after our May Alaska cruise on Explorer), so are planning for an 11am check in. I know there are only a few wheelchairs for use and so am hoping showing up relatively early will help on accessing one. Rare CatLadyFemme Posted February 26, 2018 Author #28 Share Posted February 26, 2018 On board! Maybe 30 min from entering the terminal until getting on ship. I will wait I waited 20+ minutes for a wheelchair with an older woman, and I finally gave up and walked it. Tired and hurting a little, but better than waiting outside for who knows how long. Stopped by MDR to confirm info about gluten allergy and vegetarian needs. Spoke both a restaurant supervisor and Ben the matre D. They took my name and room number and said they are ready, just to let my waiter know tonight. Headed up to deck 9. Grabbed a coconut mojito (1st time with drink package) and into WJ, where I asked for the head Chef. Tamil was amazing, and showed me to the GF buffet area, separate from everything else to isolate from cross contamination. Three kinds of bread, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes, steamed veggies, rice, fish, veggie carbonara, cheese slices, lettuce, various not vegetarian sandwich fillings (like tuna salad) and 3 types of GF desserts: jello, almond cake, and a pavlova. Tamila also said he would bring me out veggie curry, papadam, and dal from the back (still waiting on that). Much much better than WJ last year on Liberty. He also said to come find him anytime I wanted to eat in WJ and he would hook me up. So far, so fantastic! Rare CatLadyFemme Posted February 26, 2018 Author #29 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Tamil came through! Dal, channa masala, papadam, rice, traits, and pickle. All free of cross contamination and vegetarian! Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk
Rare CatLadyFemme Posted February 26, 2018 Author #30 Share Posted February 26, 2018 For those wanting a look at the Accessible Ocean View, we are in 3622. It feels a little smaller than the similar ones on Liberty and Independence, but I think some of that is due to layout. The bathroom feels bigger. Rooms were ready at 1:30, our luggage dropped off at 2:15. No foam pad on our mattress, a bit of a dirty window, and an odd stain on the couch. Otherwise, looks good to us! Rare CatLadyFemme Posted February 26, 2018 Author #31 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Here is the wonky stain. Note in our door said stewards would be by after 3pm. Oh, also bev package is $63/day on board. Refreshment is $26/day, coffee card $31 for 15 drinks. Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk

LuCruise Posted February 27, 2018 #36 Share Posted February 27, 2018 Great review so far. From the cruise planner, it looks like there isn't the standard 'early show' (for late seating) and 'late show' (for early seating)? Was wondering it if works the same on shorter cruises. Rare CatLadyFemme Posted February 27, 2018 Author #37 Share Posted February 27, 2018 We sat at a 2 top in the MDR level 4. Our serving team was amazing; Maria, Matson and Lorwin as head waiter. Jayson kept us well hydrated with drinks; my partner made it through 3 glasses of Malbec, and Matson consistently had a new one out as the last one was finished. He also brought me 3 of Moscato, despite me only making it through one and a half. Food was excellent; much better than Liberty. They had GF bread waiting for us, and then brought a regular basket for my partner when I noted he wasn't GF. He got calamari on a bed of fennel. I started with a fruit plate and we shared a fruit plate. Lorwin told me about the vegetarian GF dishes and I ordered them, but then he came back and told me that they could also make the polenta cakes with feta GF, and that hebhad also ordered them. My partner got the fish of thr day. Was way too much food for me, but everything was absolutely delicious (if a bit plain on the app front) and I didn't get sick. Dessert was a chocolate hazelnut cake for him, and a GF version of the blueberry cobbler for me. Am not a blueberry fan, so neutral on this. Ordered GF pancakes for 9am breakfast in MDR and dinner for tomorrow (will post menu tomorrow). Stopped by Latte-Tudes for a chai soy latte (me) and Italian coffee (him), and taking a breather before going to the big bands and Latin dance nights. Looks like the big show "Stage to Screen" has 7pm and 9pm showings tomorrow, with tonight's comedian having an 11:30 repeat show tomorrow. Rare CatLadyFemme Posted February 27, 2018 Author #39 Share Posted February 27, 2018 Also not sure if it helps anyone, but there is an AA/friends of Bill W and an LGBTQ meet up everyday. Listed on a board by the Centrum shops. We are going to try and stay up for the LGBTQ meet up tonight or tomorrow. StlGal Posted February 27, 2018 #41 Share Posted February 27, 2018 Really enjoying your live posts! Thanks for sharing your vacation with us! We will be on her in about 2 months to celebrate my 50th. Interested in what is open in Key West when you arrive. Wish that the ship stayed a bit longer for that stop.

Very imformative - helps with our planning So happy to hear this! I hadn't seen many and only read cranky reviews, so was a bit nervous. So far, it's been one of, if not my favorite! Rare CatLadyFemme Posted February 27, 2018 Author #45 Share Posted February 27, 2018 Breakfast was GF pancakes amd a fruit plate in the MDR. Was ok; too much tapioca starch so super chewy, but I didn't get sick, so yay! Lunch in the MDR was from the GF part of WJ; Indian curry, rice, potatoes, Greek salad and rolls. Also the most amazing fudge like cake. Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk
Rare CatLadyFemme Posted February 27, 2018 Author #46 Share Posted February 27, 2018 Key West was lovely! We did the Hemingway House because we love cats (shocker), walked through the Gayborhood, shopped a little, then back on board for swimming and food. Rare CatLadyFemme Posted February 27, 2018 Author #47 Share Posted February 27, 2018 Also, for the gluten free, celiac, vegetarian, or other dietary needs folks following: I printed out several of these with my name, dietary needs, green items I can eat and red items I cannot. I gave it to our waiter and head waiter, and this way they can easily speak with the chefs about food. On the Liberty, our head waiter could not have cared less (and I ended up with salad, veggies baked with cheese, and plain berries for 7 nights), but here, Maria and Lorwin were very appreciative, and the food situation has been significantly better. Just a thought if you want to ensure folks understand what you can and cannot eat. Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk
Rare CatLadyFemme Posted February 28, 2018 Author #48 Share Posted February 28, 2018 Dinner night 2: Formal night! Menu pics attached. I got a cheese plate and off menu cold soup (it was banana rum), Indian curry/papadam, and they made both creme brulee and a special GF veg chocolate pot de creme. Partner got beef carpaccio, the fish of the day (swordfish) and skipped dessert. Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk
