johnnyb78 Posted February 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2018 Sailing with 4 boys who ALL love pizza later this year and they've read or heard about Sorrento's and of course are excited for it. However, it seems as all I have read on here is critical reports of the pizza they have, can anyone who's eaten it recently compare it to a national chain pizza place so I have a point of reference? We have Dominos, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, and Pizza Inn (might be a regional chain, you don't see many of them around anymore) in our area. Or even if it compares closer to a frozen pizza, what brand would you say it's similar to?
lovelife Posted February 28, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2018 IMO - comparable to a good frozen pizza but nowhere near Papa John's. I do like the potato and chicken pizza when they have it.
Rare BillOh Posted February 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2018 Johnny, Which ship are you going on? The Oasis class ships do have a make your own pizza section which is decent enough.

I have already planned on paying for room service at night for something to eat instead of eating that pizza and I am a cheapskate. As someone else posted before about the pizza. They described it as cardboard with ketchup on it. Bill
Rjh8842 Posted February 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2018 If you get it fresh and piping hot it is not bad.
Nemomof3 Posted February 28, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2018 We were on Liberty 10/16 and it was horrible. We were bak on Liberty 1/18 and it was much better. Not gourmet but I would say above Dominos but not as good as Papa Johns.
gt_mustang_gal Posted February 28, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2018 I would not compare it to any of the chains that you mentioned. I actually can't even think of a frozen pizza to compare it to. Sometimes it is good - sometimes it is not. We have both loved and hated it on the same cruise, different nights. I think if your kids have typical young-kid palates, they will also be happy with it. I found it to be perfectly fine and probably most comparable to Pizza Hut. CruisingNole Posted February 28, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 28, 2018 Do you have CiCi's pizza buffet chain in your area? $5 all you can eat. I'd compare it to that. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
dwayneb236 Posted February 28, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 28, 2018 (edited) Had a few slices on Liberty in January.. Was fine. Did the trick when I was hungry. Nothing to write home about but not horrible either. Edited February 28, 2018 by dwayneb236 grammar

tinkertwo Posted February 28, 2018 #12 Share Posted February 28, 2018 Frozen pizza at best and nasty frozen pizza at that. Only had it on the Oasis and we gave it a few tries. The crusts taste pre-made, very cardboardy. The cheese was chewy guck, not sure it was actually real cheese. JMO
soccerdad72 Posted February 28, 2018 #13 Share Posted February 28, 2018 To the poster who asked which ship, we will be sailing on the oasis As others have mentioned, Oasis class ships have the option to make your own pizza, which is much better than just grabbing a slice of whatever is pre-made. This is one of those areas with a wide range of opinions. Personally, I've always found their pizza to be fine - certainly not the greatest pizza you're going to eat, but decent enough for a quick snack. CruisingNole Posted February 28, 2018 #14 Share Posted February 28, 2018 When you're a kid...is there even such a thing as "bad" pizza? It's cheese and bread. I know when I was a kid I was happy just to be able to have pizza whether it be frozen, delivery, whatever. Thinking back to what they served in the cafeteria at my elementary school, I'd say Sorrento's would be gourmet compared to that garbage. lccruiser2006 Posted February 28, 2018 #15 Share Posted February 28, 2018 It's pizza - everyone likes a different pizza. On the Liberty I loved it, my mom didn't - said it wasn't enough sauce. The kids won't go hungry!
dwayneb236 Posted February 28, 2018 #16 Share Posted February 28, 2018 I've noticed if it's something they like ok is described as, "it's ok".. If it's something they don't like it's described as, " the absolutely worst junk I have ever eaten and I wouldn't feed it to my worst enemy." Likers are a little less descriptive with their opinions than non likers.

CruisingNole Posted February 28, 2018 #19 Share Posted February 28, 2018 It does the job for me at 2:00 AM :D That sums it up perfectly. Only time I'll ever eat it is if I'm at a drinking establishment in eyeshot distance and I get the munchies. [emoji23]
spookwife Posted February 28, 2018 #20 Share Posted February 28, 2018 It’s Anthony’s pizza. If you are lucky enough to not know what is, rest assured you are not missing anything. CiCis is better. Sent from my iPad using Forums
topnole Posted February 28, 2018 #21 Share Posted February 28, 2018 I think it is freshly made so comparisons to frozen pizza seem off to me in my experience. I think teens/kids will Iike it just fine unless they are picky and like gourmet pizza. As many others have said it is ok. Nothing special but to me it is decent pizza. I think it can vary ship to ship but oasis was fine to me. My wife is picky and she is fine with it.

I don't know. Sorrento's and school cafeteria pizza are hard to tell apart. I have to be really drunk to want Sorrento's. National chain pizza is a step up. Ditto, If you see the guy consolidate pizzas on to one platter, make sure he gives you the hot one. I did see a slight improvement on my last Adventure cruise, no sorrentos there though.
