eddie11 Posted March 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Try the brewery? It looks rather like a church but it’s not - it’s a lovely pub/bar with a microbrewery Not cheap but it is Norway
insanemagnet Posted March 7, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 7, 2018 There is a nice walk to the top of the waterfall outside the town, but you do need suitable footwear and be reasonably fit.

Jo and Rob Posted March 7, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 7, 2018 You can hire Segways and bikes. Unfortunately Norwegian law means children are not allowed on Segways. We have a 13 and 16year old who would have loved it.

pete14 Posted March 7, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Try the brewery? It looks rather like a church but it’s not - it’s a lovely pub/bar with a microbrewery Not cheap but it is Norway I agree and it is very close to where ship docks. Not sure you would spend all day there, I think money would run out too quickly.
davecttr Posted March 7, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 7, 2018 This one - http://flamsbrygga.no/en/activities/hiking-trip-to-brekkefossen/ ah! did not know about that one. less than 4 miles round trip and mostly flat except the steep bit at the end. Don't think my knees would take that without the help of hand rails :(
simonpjd Posted March 7, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 7, 2018 I think there is a rib boat excursion. That would be fun. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Barnum42 Posted March 7, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 7, 2018 The tourist office has maps with lots of nice walks. Just clicked Insanemagnet's link, which in turn will take you to said map on this page: http://flamsbrygga.no/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/160349-04-Flamskart-NoEn-High.pdf
kruzseeka Posted March 7, 2018 #12 Share Posted March 7, 2018 There's a nice walk up the valley to the Flam Stave Church. It's relatively level and although along the main road down to where the ships berth, there is little traffic. It says on the map you can download from the link below that it's 6Km so nearly 2 miles each way. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=flam+walks&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&dcr=0&ei=gjygWoT8O8astgfB4p6oDQ

You need to select the first listed site which allows a download to the walking trails but it is in fact the same map from the link posted earlier. It is a very good map though with well described trails (distance, difficulty). We have a paper copy which I guess we must have picked up in the tourist office in the same building where you get the train tickets. Can't miss it. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=walking+trails+flam+map&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&dcr=0&ei=e_agWpeMJK6LtgfYm7TYCA
