I became aware of this advisory while watching a NatGeo show the other night. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/International-Travel-Country-Information-Pages/TrinidadandTobago.html

How serious is this and should we make any alternative plans when our ship stops here?

I am scheduled to go Trinidad in Nov. I just wrote Princess to change to Bonaire based on the above State Dept warning.

Trinidad like every where in the world today has crime. You have not heard of terrorist attacks on the news because there have not been any so far. Don’t be afraid to get of the ship and take a tour. The areas being warned about are mostly areas that Tourists usually do not frequent. Trinidad is a lovely island and you will be happy if you see some of it. Port of Spain is the capital city so it is extremely busy and driving can be a nightmare during rush hours so stick with a planned tour that will give you a tour of the city or take you on the scenic ride to one of the North coast beaches.

Just returned and 4 of us walked around the center part of the city. Didn’t feel any different than walking in a US city. The idea is to be aware of your surroundings and stay in areas with a lot of people. Saw a significant police presence on Independence St.

One fellow cruiser said he thought he and his wife were being followed, but went into a local store and when they came out, their supposedly stalker was gone.
