Bliss - large balcony B6

Some friends new to NCL have a hold on cabin 8112 B6 large balcony on Bliss. Does anyone know/think this is a hull cabin? It also seems to be over the backstage area of the Bliss theater which could by noisy during shows and rehearsals. Anyone with experience in this location on Escape? Understand it's very handy for Districe Brew House, but any negative thoughts or experiences?

I stayed in a B6 on the Escape. No problems at all with it, and it is indeed very handy for the Brew House

Thx, Keith. Except on Escape there are 24 B6 cabins, on Bliss only 4 on deck 8 which are the first two cabins on both sides of the ship. Concerned that they may be large hull cabins and also potential for noise from theater.

I'm booked in this exact cabin on Bliss for August 2019 and too am curious what the deal is with the B6 category and the fact that there are only four.

Amy, yes I was hoping for the same thing! can't seem to find any pictures of these B6 on the Bliss. Stayed in one on The Breakaway and it was nice. But as stated by Hrhbob there are only 4 on this ship so wondering if they are similar to Breakawy or are a hull balcony. Hope someone chimes in soon!

I have stayed in M6 Mini with large balcony right near where you are on the Escape and the Getaway and totally loved the location and am booked in same area on the Bliss for October. I never had any noise issues. I would say that you will be very happy with this location. Defiantly give it a try.

The Bliss has many differences then the away ships. They do not have any M1’s they are now part of the M6 category. The B6 cabins have larger balconies then all of the B1 categories including deck 9 HC category. They only have 6 spa suites, there is no H8 deluxe spa suite (like Escape). There are other differences but I can think of those off the top of my head.

B6 cabin 176sf, Balcony 155sf = 331sf

B1 non HC cabin 176sf Balcony 100sf = 276sf

B1 HC cabin 277sf balcony 149sf = 425sf (cabin is larger to accommodate wheelchairs)

Do your homework when booking, do not assume the ship is what you are used to with the Away ships.

FYI I just checked one of my reservations and the retail price is higher. The B1 is smaller but costs $1100 more then the B6. I will keep the B6.

Not to hijack..but for those staying in these cabins, here's a great video (in German) showing the size and exposure of the large balconies on 8 forward. I'm staying in 9124 on an upcoming Bliss sailing.

The photo found here shows a sliver of the very first forward cabin on 8 and 9 on Bliss. Both look great.

Hi all!

We're back from the Bliss cabin 8110. I gotta say, I didn't love it.

While the balcony is twice as big as the others, the space is pretty much useless unless you are wanting to have a party on it and fit a lot of people. The width of the balcony is the same as the room... but all the space comes from the depth of it. So you end up with a long narrow corridor of a balcony with an extremely limited view from the room. Instead of being able to see the ocean, you end up seeing the divider walls. And even though it is the very first cabin, there is still a big divider there blocking your view, with an empty space on the other side. It was also extremely windy being in the very front.

Another drawback: privacy. Half of the balcony is covered by the balconies above, but by the time you walk out to the end where you are able to see out, the entire side of the ship is looking down on you in your pajamas. And 8112 beside us was at a slight angle that made it so we saw our neighbors WAY more than we wanted. I've never really seen that on a ship before. Oh, and when they clean the balconies above, the water pours down all over this one.

The cabins themselves are all pretty much what you see in the pictures. Ours was slightly reversed; the sofa was first in the room and the bed was in front of the balcony door. I THOUGHT that was going to be a good thing since I love to see out from the bed, but as I mentioned, the extra depth of the balcony greatly diminished the view.

As far as noise, it was noisy. Not from the stage below, but from the actual workings of the ship. Each day that we docked at 7 or 8am, we were wide awake by 4:30 or 5 am by the vibrations and noises on that front wall that goes to the crew area. I'm not sure what was going on, but it was LOUD. Like, turning, thumping, squealing, anchor dropping, chains & vibration noise loud. 😞

On the plus side, there was good storage space in the room and the balcony door was a sliding door instead of a pull open door, so it was easy to keep open for fresh air.

So here are a couple pics, one shows what a limited view there is from the bed. While any Caribbean Cruise is a great cruise, I personally wouldn't recommend this particular room if balcony privacy & view are important to you.

Hmm... We're currently booked in an M6 mini suite in this area for Alaska next year (room 8730). Now I'm wondering whether we should book another category of mini suite. I just hate that the balconies are so small at 42 sq ft. There are 3 of us, and I'd like for all of us to comfortably fit on the balcony at the same time.

As far as how windy it was, it might be different with different itineraries, as far as the noise in the early mornings, I am sure that will not change.  I wore earplugs and that definitely helped.  We are sailing again on the Bliss in October but to the Mexican Riviera instead.

All the way down the hall in 8730 I wouldn't think that noise would be such a problem. It seemed like the worst noise in 8110 was coming from the shared wall with the crew area; you'll have other cabins on both sides. If there are 3 of you, you will be able to enjoy the balcony more and there really shouldn't be a problem with the room. We just kind of wanted more privacy since it was just the two of us. That 8th floor location is really convenient too if you like bars & lounges. I don't really care for elevators so it was super easy to pop down the hall to the brew house or Mojito bar for a drink. :)

Have you considered an aft-facing B1 on deck 9?

The balcony is nearly as deep (width varies) and bed location can be either near balcony or near closet. There is much more privacy from above, wind is not a problem, and the ride is better. The "azipod shimmy" felt in the aft section is barely noticeable and may go completely unnoticed.

Thanks, itseaya. We've haven't sailed on NCL in man years, and we've never been to Alaska, so all this is new to us!

Thank you for this, JHeatherT. We try to avoid using the elevators as well, so I think the location will be a good one. And being near the bars and lounges will be an extra perk! I'm hoping you're right about 8730 being far enough down the hall that noise won't be an issue. Now I'm really glad I switched from 8714, though!

Hi Two Wheels. Yes, we briefly considered a B1, but we really want the (little bit of) extra square footage in the room, and I'm sold on the bigger/nicer bathroom. I'm struggling with the fact that the next step up from a mini suite on this ship is a full suite in the Haven. We're used to more space in the room, but we don't want to pay Haven prices -- especially for Alaska, where we'll be spending $$$ on excursions! Love your term, "azipod shimmy." We've definitely felt that on other ships.
