waterdoctor Posted March 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2018 Does anyone know how strict they are on check-in times at the Port of New Orleans? We have priority boarding but another family that is going with us has a check-in time of 1:00-1:30. We were hoping that the other family could check-in before 1:00 but didn't want to show up at the port to only have them get told to come back later. We are leaving on the Dream this Sunday. Rare dctravel Posted March 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2018 In 2016, they were quite strict. They were turning people away who showed up early. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare Saint Greg Posted March 21, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2018 I don’t think they’ll get in the building before 1pm...and they shouldn’t. What if everyone ignored their check-in time and just showed up early?
DHnDWplus2 Posted March 21, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2018 They enforce check in times in NO Sent from my SM-G930P using Forums mobile app
theboatahoy Posted March 21, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2018 Was just on the Dream out of New Orleans last week. They were not at all enforcing check in times. Saw many 1:30pm and beyond check in times at 11:30am. That said, it wasn't really an issue. Like I said, we got there at 11:30am. We were in the boat by noon. maldenmusic Posted March 21, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 21, 2018 Last year in NOLA they made us show our boarding passes out front before they let us in the building.
winddawn Posted March 21, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 21, 2018 Every time I've cruised from NOLA (last time in January), they checked boarding passes before allowing anyone into the terminal.
mdsgu Posted March 21, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 21, 2018 We sailed out of NOLA at Thanksgiving. They were looking at boarding passes very closely. If you can, get FTTF for your friends.
salvagegirl Posted March 21, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 21, 2018 We have been out of nola 4 times. 3 of the times they were checking and strickly enforcing boarding times. one time we showed up 30 minutes early because it was the last shuttle from hotel and told us to go on through. So it might just luck or how busy it is at that time
LoungingMcCoy Posted March 21, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 21, 2018 We sailed out of New Orleans in January. The shuttle from the hotel to the dock had to have a minimum number of people before they would run it so we wound up getting to the port early. We walked right in with no problems. After reading about this on the forum I guess we got lucky and I wouldn't risk showing up early again if I could avoid it. The wife is demanding FTTF for our next cruise so it's hopefully not going to be an issue.

Same here. I think they even double check sometimes....have people outside checking before they'll let you in...and another inside checking before you go up the escalator.
