napria Posted March 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2018 My husband and I were watching YouTube in anticipation of our first Silversea trip when we came upon a couple of videos highlighting Silversea’s New Zealand sub Antarctic trip. I’ve looked, but don’t see this trip offered on Silversea’s website. Does anyone know what happened with this trip? Have they stopped offering it? It looked like an amazing cruise. napria Posted March 28, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted March 28, 2018 That’s so sad. I would have loved that cruise!
jland Posted March 28, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2018 We did that cruise on Sliver Discoverer a few years ago. It was a fabulous cruise, we enjoyed every minute. I think the reason Silversea stopped going there was lack of interest. We only had approx 35 passengers onboard, not enough to make it worth while for them. gnld Posted April 1, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2018 Ponant is doing it, r/t Dunedin over 17 days Feb/Mar 2019 on the Le Laperouse.
Rare drron29 Posted April 3, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 3, 2018 That is a good cruise seeing it takes in Macquarie island. It is though part of Tasmania officially. We went to Antarctica on the Orion and that took in the sub Antarctic islands including Macquarie.Orion's owner bought into Ponant and a number of ex Orion Expedition staff joined her. They know this area well. napria Posted April 7, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted April 7, 2018 Looks good, but it’ll have to wait. We booked a Mediterranean Cruise for late Spring of 2019. Hope someone is doing a similar itinerary in 2020.

Smokeybloke2 Posted February 20, 2019 #10 Share Posted February 20, 2019 Kasr - really enjoyed your review of your recent Directors cruise - and it wasn’t too long! We are very much looking forward to the upcoming NZ and Sub Antarctic cruise..... our first time on Ponant! I’m hoping that conditions allow the staff to fully utilise the outside/inside deck restaurant as, as well you know, helps spread the load. the bit about the strict boarding procedures was very helpful. Look forward to bumping into you on LL. ANN.
Mahogany Posted February 22, 2019 #11 Share Posted February 22, 2019 I've been to Antarctica and the Arctic on Le Ponant, chartered by A & K, and English was the first language. I'm assuming that's true with Silversea?
