Two ships today, March 2:  Disney wonder and Jewel of the Seas

Here is Jewel in Gatun Locks, then Miraflores

Disney Wonder has to use the new locks, so we only get a glimpse of her as she bypasses the Pedro Miguel locks in the channel to the Cocoli Locks.  In the right corner you can see Jewel in the Pedro Miguel Locks

Originally they didn't, her length was 965' which is the length limit for cruise and container ships.  A couple years ago she went into the yard for refurbishment and that is when they added a duck's a$$ to the stern which exceeded the 965 figure.  So she has been banished from the original locks and must use the new ones.  The Wonder does have the title of first cruise ship to use the new locks.

Wednesday, March 13.  TS Cuauhtemoc,  Training ship for the Mexican Navy.  Windy day, giant Mexical flag flapping...too bad she can't be under sail.  Miraflores Locks

Only getting a peak at the Gatun Locks.  And she has put up a smaller flag.  Still windy, though

April 17:  It was a triple -dam day in the Canal...Zuiderdam on a partial; Zaandam eastbound, and Oosterdam westbound.

 

Zuiderdam, in and out at Gatun:
