Platinum Plus and complimentary dining?

does anyone know what they will be replace the "moderno" option with on the Bliss as that restaurant does not exist on the newer ships?

Recent report was that they would allow you to use it in Los Lobos (taking the space of Moderno) or Q BBQ (taking the space of the Supper Club). We're sailing on the Bliss next month and will report what they allow on "normal" cruises.

Where is the dinner with officers held (we'll be on the Sun)? Is there a special menu? Is wine or an alcohol drink included?

In the MDR (the one with the dress code - no shorts etc) and wine and bottled water either still or gassed is complimentary.

We've had the Platinum Plus dinner with the officers on the Spirit (twice) and the Jade. Each time we've met the other diners by reception and were given a glass of Prosecco and escorted to the main dining room. It's the regular menu with wine and after dinner liquors. Nice dinner with a total of 6 guests and an officer. Every dinner we've attended has been on a different night.

What restaurant(s) are they currently using on Bliss (besides La Cucina) for the Platinum perk since there isn't a Moderno?

With Platinum Plus you get 2 complimentary dinners in Le Bistro or Cagney's and also 2 complimentary dinners in Moderno's or La Cuchina.

How does that work since the menus show "a la carte" pricing?

Moderno's is a flat price, so no worries. The only extra charge we encountered was at Cagney's because I oreder turf and surf. I was charged an additional $5. I will say, it wasn't worth it. The shrimp was pretty tasteless. Next time I will stick with just a nice steak or some other entree.

In the past even though we were only entitled to a appetizer, entree and dessert, except for Cagney's they have never charged us anything extra. As for the wine we always just take it with us as we we have the UDP and just order our wine that way. It is nice to have a bottle in the cabin for a late night or before dinner drink.

The restriction on one app, one main, and one dessert has never been imposed on us after at least 15 cruises as Platinum/Platinum +. We've never been charged for breaking that "rule." A few years back, it was mentioned a few times and then waived by the waiter but nothing since.

I’ve never seen anything that suggests that.

if thats the case, then whats the customary tip for these free platinum dinners?

$5? since it's a little less value than a sdp package since you have a price limit on entrees.

and the minimum sdp package (3 day) is $23/meal

If both DH and I are platinum plus why wouldn't we get a total of 4 dinners? Wouldn't we each be entitled to Cagneys/LeBistro and Moderno/LaCucina? I don't think it really matters for the next cruise we are going on, but am I reading this wrong?

It was changed to 2 dinners per cabin from 2 per person some time ago.

You get two meals for two, so a total of 4 dinners.

I have three women BFFs are cruising on the Jade in 10 days. Two of us (none of us are related) are Platinum members. Will one of the Platinum members be able take the 3rd woman as our guest to the two complimentary meals while the other Platinum member uses her vouchers?

Thanks in advance.

Are you in separate cabins?

If so then you will receive two sets of vouchers, so yes you will be able to all go using them (and take someone else with you as well if you want).

However, if you are sharing a room then you will just get one set of vouchers, so would just have two meals for two.

Or use the inside cabin as an extra bathroom and dressing room with closet. Most women would love to have an inside cabin sized dressing room! That is assuming your inside cabin is close to the balcony cabin!

Opinions will vary on that, or even whether it is necessary at all.

I wasn’t stating any opinion on whether a tip should be left (or how much), by the way. I was just commenting on the fact that I have never seen anything regarding the platinum meal that states one way or the other whether the tip is covered.
