gavinfromlondon Posted May 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2018 After much deliberation, (and help from this board!) decided to book a Haven 2 bedroom suite on Epic for an Eastern Caribbean cruise. But totally stuck on which one to go for... pretty much all are currently available so struggling to choose one. Or all equally good on deck 17? Also vaguely considered paying the extra ££ for the deluxe owners suite, but with a child think the 2nd bedroom is more useful for. Many thanks for any advice. trician24 Posted May 17, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2018 The 2 BR suite is wonderful. We sailed on the Epic earlier this year and stayed in 16023. We loved that location since it was close to the pool, concierge and lounge. We booked the same suite again for next year but then decided on the Getaway as our next cruise and switched things up. Even if the website is showing only deck 17 available you can try to call and get deck 16. I think NCL tries to sell 17 first and often that is what only shows up on the website. That was the case with our booking but when I called they had a bunch available on 16. Enjoy your cruise!!!
gavinfromlondon Posted May 17, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted May 17, 2018 Ah that's helpful, I was trying to work out why 17 seemed to be totally available but not one on 16!
Rare BostonGal35 Posted May 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 17, 2018 we aim for rooms that have other rooms above or below us, or at least a quiet space like the library or gift shop vs. a club or the pool deck.
Vyhanek Posted May 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 17, 2018 Keep the 2 bedroom. I personally like deck 17 on the Epic......stayed on 16 once and 17 once. The reason I like 17 is because there are a lot of kids and the pool area gets noisy! I liked being in the courtyard but didn't want to be directly in the vicinity of the noisy, busy pool. Plus I much prefer the upper sundeck POSH on deck 18 to the pool area. The pool area is completely enclosed, meaning you don't get even the slightest peak of the ocean. The upper sundeck is big and beautiful and wide open views to the ocean along with a big nice bar! I liked the courtyard with young kids but knowing the beautiful sundeck with beautiful views is a few steps away, made the courtyard much, much less appealing. Being on the 17th floor I was close enough to the concierge. Just about 20 steps to the main stair and down a flight of stairs. I think as long as you are within the enclosed Haven area, there is no real benefit to being "closer" to the concierge and resteraunt. It's all right there. Mainly I liked the 17 floor because it was a buffer from the loud kids........and I bring 2 of my own! We just don't want to be in Disney all day so to speak. dinkydee718 Posted May 17, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2018 Having stayed in both the DOS and 2 bedroom, we now exclusively stay in the 2 bedroom suite. That second bedroom makes all the difference. You won't regret it!
DMH15 Posted May 17, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 17, 2018 I booked Epic 17004 Deluxe Owners Suite last year. I looked in at the other suites since first time on Epic, have cruised suites on other NCL ships as well. The thing about the DOS that is outstanding is the large living space and the large side balcony. If you see yourself wanting to spend time in those spaces that might lean you toward the DOS. The two bedroom has a tiny living space and balcony compared to the DOS. With the DOS you get a bath and a half and with the 2 bedroom you get two baths. One is grand and the other like the bath in an inside cabin. Of course with the 2 bedroom suite you get just that... a second small bedroom. In the DOS it is the sofa bed in the living room as your second sleeping area. The master suite does have doors between the living room and the master bath for privacy. GoTravelLife Posted May 20, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 20, 2018 We love the 2nd bedroom (traveling with a teenager) so everyone has their ‘space’. We are up early/ she sleeps late and so on. 2nd bedroom is super quiet and dark. Review here and pics if you’re interested. https://gotravellife.com/2018/01/03/about-us/ Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I'm crossing my fingers there will be enough closet space for my daughter and I in the second bedroom on the Gem. Specifically the closet space....I'm thinking it may be a bit tight but we will have to make it work.

DominicAUS Posted May 20, 2018 #11 Share Posted May 20, 2018 I haven’t sailed yet but have booked a 2br haven suite on the Epic. I’ve booked 16001 I understand that the living space is approx 30% wider. So picked that and only have the cabins above instead of a sun deck
Rare Traveling Fools Posted May 23, 2018 #12 Share Posted May 23, 2018 From one who has done it with grandkids 3 &6 at the time....go for the owner's suite and enjoy it all. You won't regret it!!

Also vaguely considered paying the extra ££ for the deluxe owners suite, but with a child think the 2nd bedroom is more useful for. Many thanks for any advice. Gavin We are just off the Epic (4 days) and have done BOTH the 2 bedroom and most recently the Deluxe Owner's Suite. I would go for the two bedroom on Deck 16. The Deluxe Owner's Suite on Deck 17 is a great room....LOVED the living room part of it....BUT although it has an amazingly large balcony - the balcony looks onto the pool area and one of the sun decks. We prefer having the option of looking down directly onto the sea. Also, although we are LATE to go to bed "spend all night and early morning hours in the casino!) the noise from deck 18 was definitely enough to wake us up during the wee hours of the morning. No harm done...but this IS a port intensive itinerary....and so we were often dealing with 4-5 hours of sleep. We only had a two stairway (one deck) walk down the steps to the Epic Club (private dining venue for Haven guests) and the same to reach the Concierge desk. And although we were only ONE deck away....it did make us feel a bit "removed".....and then when you add the noise from Deck 18 clean up and reconfiguring the lounges, etc.,,,,we would book the 2 bedroom again instead of the Deluxe Owner's Suite. One more thing that plays into this opinion is that although we had a second bathroom...it was merely a "powder" room....with a sink and a toilet. We (only my DH and myself) do better with a second shower.
Rare BirdTravels Posted May 25, 2018 #14 Share Posted May 25, 2018 We had a 2BR 17003 on the Epic and simply loved the room. It is one of the forward facing rooms with spectacular 180+ degree views. It has a solarium balcony (fully enclosed with forward facing windows that open) which was perfect for us. We loved the views, but also loved to sit on the air conditioned balcony :). When we wanted a bit more sun, we made our way out to the Posh Club. There are a few pictures of this room on https://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=528583
