lazydays2004 Posted May 20, 2018 #26 Share Posted May 20, 2018 I just got off of Triumph, I had the same problem with weak drinks and the $3 offer for doubles. I didn't have the same issues on Triumph in October 2017.
Drazil65 Posted May 20, 2018 #27 Share Posted May 20, 2018 We have not noticed that issue, on the Magic in April the drinks at Red Frog were a little strong we thought. The only time we have ever run into drinks that were watered down were at the last couple of AI's on land vaca, that was an issue regularly it seems. ray98 Posted May 20, 2018 #28 Share Posted May 20, 2018 Never had that problem. Drinks are usually made in front of me so I could see the jigger anyway. The frozen drinks aren't really concocted to be strong tasting anyway, they are foofoo drinks. Look at the amount of mix compared to the serving of liquor. A drink that masks the taste of alcohol is what you are buying.
activeac Posted May 20, 2018 #29 Share Posted May 20, 2018 OP it can happen. Although not often - I ordered a Long Island while playing in the casino (utilizing my Drinks On Us) and it tasted like a glass of mixer! Bleck😲! Thank goodness there was not an additional cost involved; of course, I would have sent it back if there had been. Not a consistent occurrence. I was on the Magic btw... thesmiths Posted May 20, 2018 #30 Share Posted May 20, 2018 Here is a pic of the drink I was being poured all cruise. $20.00 tip up front. Captain Morgan If by the pool he would put a splash of coke. If I was going up to the balcony he would give me the can of coke and Captain on Ice. So to answer your question NO :) !
Rare jimbo5544 Posted May 20, 2018 #31 Share Posted May 20, 2018 You guys are hilarious! Once in my younger days I was made an “Honorary Shippie” (and no, not THAT meaning - anyone who has been in the Navy should be able to relate as in “Shipmate”) when I drank my husband’s friends under the table [emoji4] I promise it will be great fun my Stooges! beerman2 Posted May 20, 2018 #32 Share Posted May 20, 2018 I never have issues with weak drinks. Martini, please. Yep 3 shots of Grey Goose , a little olive juice and 3 olives. Took 1 to dinner every night.
crzndeb Posted May 20, 2018 #33 Share Posted May 20, 2018 If some have seen the drinks being made, and they taste weak, ask for a shot of the alcohol used and taste it. We can all hope that bottles haven’t been tampered with before they are used, but unfortunately you just don’t know.

tattoos Posted May 20, 2018 #36 Share Posted May 20, 2018 beerman2, yum, my drink of choice also. After many cruises and ordering drinks at different bars on the ship, my choice is beer during the day and vodka martini, preferably Grey Goose, before dinner. My experience with fruity drinks when I was younger did not work out well. If I'm paying good money for a drink, I want to see and taste the alcohol. We just sailed on the Conquest in April and I found the best bar to order an alcoholic beverage was the Casino bar. I watched the bartender pour three generous shots of Grey Goose, a little olive juice, and I always requested 4 olives (this counted as my salad before dinner). I also asked the bartender to pour my martini in a low-ball glass so I wouldn't spill a drop walking to the dining room. I don't doubt that slushy drinks can be watered down and can contain very little alcohol depending on when you order it and when it was made. I think if Carnival or any other cruise line was watering down their drinks or a short pour or tampering of any kind with their alcohol, it would have been in the news. moondog73 Posted May 20, 2018 #43 Share Posted May 20, 2018 Frozen drink will always be weaker than non frozen. The alcohol won't freeze. I have a double frozen drink machine (really nice commercial grade machine) and we use those pre-made bottles In it. For each bottle we have to dilute it with half a bottle of water or it won't freeze correctly. We then just add more alcohol after we pour them. jwjax Posted May 20, 2018 #44 Share Posted May 20, 2018 My first response would be order doubles at the bar , get a bottle delivered to you in your cabin , better yet don't order frozen drinks at the bar ?:confused:
Sebleo Posted May 20, 2018 #45 Share Posted May 20, 2018 It's also possible that they are using the same amount of alcohol but are using more flavoring and ice than they have previously. It would have to be less ice for a weaker drink. But I get what you're meaning.
firemanbobswife Posted May 20, 2018 #46 Share Posted May 20, 2018 It would have to be less ice for a weaker drink. But I get what you're meaning. Really? Doesn’t more ice water it down further diluting the product?

Sebleo Posted May 20, 2018 #49 Share Posted May 20, 2018 Really? Doesn’t more ice water it down further diluting the product? If the bartender puts 1.5 ounces of liquor in a glass packed with ice there would not be much room for mixer. So the drink would be strong. Same amount of liquor with light ice leaves room for more mixer resulting in a weaker drink.
