countrygirl6 Posted May 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2018 (edited) Hi everyone, I thought I would do a quick review of my recent Liberty of the Seas sailing as they are hard to find! We stopped in Roatan, Costa Maya and Cozumel. This ship has a great crew! Everyone is always so helpful and engaging. The food was always good, and the service all over was excellent. There were always a lot of activities going on, the slides were pretty good. The two single rider slides are a little slower, but the double rider was a lot of fun! This was also our first cruise out of Galveston, the embarkation was easy - no lines and were on by 11am. But, the disembarking was a slower process. We were late getting off the ship as it took longer to be cleared but the lines are slow and long and outside of the terminal is a bit of a mess. I do have the cruise compasses I can try and post if anyone would like to see them. Edited May 28, 2018 by countrygirl6

Sunmist Posted May 28, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2018 How were the beds on the Liberty? I hear the mattresses are really uncomfortable and way too firm. Did you find that?

On ours from last month, mattress was way too soft! And very uncomfortable!

sunsetme Posted May 29, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 29, 2018 sailed may 20 as well, we had an eggcrate on our mattress for some reason. It was fine but we never requested it. disembarkation was a nightmare and traffic control at the port is terrible. Food was fair, dining room service very slow and pretty good entertainment. Ship is beautiful, loved the solarium adult pool and splashaway was great for a 2 year old. Casino very smokey.
LHARTWICK Posted May 29, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 29, 2018 We were on this cruise as well - 2nd time on LOTS out of Galveston. Our dining room waiters were absolutely outstanding!!! Best we've had in 28 cruises. We tipped them extra on the last night. I miss them already! The entire crew/staff are very friendly. We also love the Solarium pool - one of the main reasons we sailed on this ship again since we only had one excursion planned. We stayed on board in the other two ports. We had already seen all of the shows before, but loved them so we didn't mind seeing them again. Our bed was great, but I think we got really lucky. Our bed had an eggcrate topper on it. From what I've read, RCCL is gradually doing away with them. I guess a previous cruiser from a while back requested it and it was never removed. I had even purchased 2 of the Klymit sleeping pads and took them with us because I had read how bad the mattresses had become. We never even opened them, and slept great. Embarkation was easy for us - we were on board in about 15 minutes due to being Platinum. Disembarkation was not pleasant for sure, mainly due to customs trying to locate the one passenger. Our biggest disappointment was the Platinum perks - not nearly as good on RCCL as CCL. And on day one we had a note in our cabin of all of the discounts that were pre-loaded onto our card for our Platinum level. Turns out they weren't pre-loaded at all. We had to go to Guest Services to get it worked out, and the rep had to call someone to get help. Elevators can be slow, I think mainly due to there only being two sets instead of three in the whole ship (no mid-ship elevators), but it wasn't a big deal for us. Just catch one when you can regardless of the direction it's going. We love being able to go to the very front of the ship's prow on deck four when it's open - few ships have this feature. It's amazing really! We dined at Giovanni's for the first time, and quite honestly, we weren't all that impressed. Most of the items on our plates were identical to what we had already had in the dining room. Glad we tried it, but we wouldn't go back. Had an inside cabin on deck 9 - very quiet, and our cabin steward was great! I think the ship's strongest asset is her crew - just fabulous! We really enjoyed our second trip on LOTS! Thanks to the OP for posting, too!
