Regarding shore excursions in Skagway, Alaska . . . Has anyone experienced taking the narrow gauge Railway up and then ride sturdy bikes back down the hills to the ship ? :ship: . . . Thanks in advance for sharing any information on that tour . . . we'd Love to give it a try this summer !

We have taken the train up, but not the bike down. Before deciding on this excursion, make sure that you know what you are getting yourself into. It is a long ride back down, and you need to make sure you are in shape for a 25+ mile ride.

If they do such a tour be prepared for a tough ride down a long and steep mountain. I believe the grade at times is over 10%. Also expect lots of motorhomes, RV's and trucks on the road.
