Can we bring our own wine on board for dinner

Recommended Posts

New ACL poster here but a fan of Cruisecritic from other boards. We are planning to take the Columbia River cruise in 2019. Never been on ACL. Our traveling companions are wine gourmets. I've been reading lots of posts on this site and believe our friends would not be happy with the table wine served (described as Gallo.) Would they be allowed to bring their own wine and would the serving staff open it for them? In your opinion, would this look like a big deal to our fellow passengers? Appreciate any opinions. Thank you.

Have not been on the Queen of the West, and cannot address your question directly. Our ACL trip on the America (Mississippi River) featured a choice of fairly good wines at happy hour, but we noticed that at dinner the cheaper wines were on the table. Several times we asked for the better wine, and it was readily provided.

Have you considered other cruise companies that provided special wine-themed cruises? We took a Colombia/Snake cruise on the UnCruise line (www.uncruise.com) that included wine experts brought onboard at different stops, an onboard sommelier who provided special tastings each afternoon, and visits to wineries at almost every stop.

You may bring any alcoholic beverage you choose onboard with no problems.

One of the many things I like about ACL.

Mike:)

Thanks for the idea, Dave. Hadn't heard of Un-Cruise.

We just returned from a Mississippi Cruise on America. We boarded with 4 bottles of wine and had no issues. In fact, the staff always wanted to see what kind of wine we brought in each night. We ended up buying a couple of bottles in Vicksburg during our visit. Enjoy!

Again, thank you. We are going out of Boston In September and have never been on American Cruise Lines. Many experiences on other lines but not this one and we are so looking forward to the smaller boat experience.
