Purchasing Shore Excursions

Recommended Posts

We are traveling to Alaska next month with our granddaughter on the Emerald Princess. Our travel agent is giving us on board credit that we want to use to purchase excursions. However, it will not be posted to our account until we board the ship. We have chosen the excursions we would like to book ( have a few choices in case they are sold out) and want to book them onboard as fast as possible before they fill up. Can you book excursions using the cabin TV or should we immediately head down to the shore excursion desk when we board?

Thanks for your help.

if these are must do excursions, and you are only a month out - maybe consider going ahead, booking them, paying with credit card, to assure price and availability

Is the OBC refundable?

You can then use the OBC for gratuities, drinks, specialty dinners etc

Princess ships do not have interactive TV. (Some have On Demand programming, but Emerald does not as of yet).

Just go to the Shore Excursions desk, fill out the form(s) for each port and hand them in. Some Princess ships have added one or two electronic screens at the Excursions desk for booking, but my experience is that the line for a human representative moves faster. Or you can just drop your forms in the slot on the wall (be sure to indicate whose account is paying for how many tickets).

We have prepaid gratuities this cruise and have already spent a lot of money on shore excursions we really want to enjoy, so the obc given by the travel agent will be paying for wine at dinner and the remaining shore excursions. The travel agent's obc is nonrefundable so we will take our chance and book onboard. As soon as we board we will head down to shore excursion desk and see what we can book.

Thanks for the tips.
