Jade April 2019 Transatlantic

Dumb question, in toying with air, yes I know I have plenty of time

A one way flight from Rome to Newark NJ is over $2k yet a round trip on same non stop flight is $660, makes no sense but has anyone ever booked like this and then just canceled the return?

I just stumbled on an April 28, 2018 transatlantic itinerary for the Norwegian Jade from New York to Rome.

Any advice on if it is a waste of time or if this looks like this itinerary looks legit to book would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yllek, I'm really grateful to you for finding and sharing this great looking cruise. I've started the Roll Call only b/c the cruise wasn't listed, however, since it's really your baby, would you like to organize the Meet & Greet?

I'd be happy to help but feel like you should have first dibs on this.

I booked a solo balcony too! Great price :) I haven't done a TA before but the ports sound interesting and a few hours in the casino sounds like fun! Would luv a m&g. See you all over on roll call, ciao.

Hi and Welcome Renee! I'm sure there'll be a M&G in due course. Relax and enjoy and get ready for lots of fun.

I'd recommend everyone start doing some research on our great and very interesting (at least in my opinion) ports of call. Doing private tours can mean less crowding and more custom excursions.

Cheers.

I think I'd cancel Disney and book NCL provided the ports are to your liking

I’m definitely considering. The dates are not the same and that could be an issue, but so tempted. Right now we are scheduled for the TA on DCL plus the Med on NCL Epic starting the next day.

Thank you for setting up the roll call. Unfortunately with work I will not have much time to give the Meet & Greet the attention it deserves. I will be glad to assist but until I get to those lovely relaxing sea days I won't have all that much free time. The NCL sits is showing 300 days to departure and I will be counting them down.

For one way flights home always check with the cruiseline too, often they can get good rates.

Anyway, this one offers good cruise fares with a decent itinerary too so we've booked it :)

Freedom Sale is posted on NCL's website and it is offering On Board Credit for this sailing along with many others. Insides $50, Oceanviews $60, Balconies $100, Suites $300, Haven Suites $300, Haven Owners Suites and Garden Villas $500. As of right now there has been no increase in pricing.

I would check your pricing in the morning and if no fare increase that would offset the OBC call NCL or your travel agent if you used one and request that the OBC be added to your booking.

I did the Jade TA this past April. There were lots of solos but they received little help from NCL. They planned their own lunches, played cards and games, arranged excursions, etc using the roll call. I played cards with many of them, so heard their discussions. Work with your roll call folks.

Hmmm if I booked air and added on 3 nights post cruise from NCL would their travel insurance cover all of it?

Can I request non stop legacy airline from them?

LOL, nothing is "free". DW and I were casually looking at this last night along with the GA's T/A since both are sailing out of NY next April ... Whoosh, same "mocked" booking for 2, prices just gone up $500 for 2, definitely not worth in exchange for the OBC.

A quick check on the Getaway's T/A pricing, appeared to be gone up by hundreds, in the usual categories that we generally book for (edit: Oceanviews & Balconies ... Insides too)

That's either a website/IT malfunction or else, not much of a "sale". Anyone else watching & seeing it, or else, it must be me.

I posted the above last night based on rates showing on NCL when I posted. Checked the aft facing balcony rate this morning and it increased overnight by $100 per person which more than offsets the $100 per stateroom OBC you could get with the new Freedom Sale. Yesterday you could book an mb mini suite for less than the aft facing balcony, today it is more. I didn't write down any other stateroom prices so don't know if it is an across the board price increase or just for the two categories I was watching. Pricing is still good on this sailing, especially for full suites.

Prices are so good that I'm seriously considering upgrading to a suite instead of waiting next year to bid. Even solo the price is very good. Hmm 12 nights, treat myself??? lol

Hey, if you can afford 5K for a suite, go for it. The priority boarding is a really nice way to start your cruise and the other perks are nice too.

Enjoy. :D

Thinking about it, lol, but on flip side that extra money can be used for excursions, hotel in Rome for 3 nights

Have 6 months to chip away until paid in full.

Doing the Baltics in August and dragging my son and daughter with me that was hefty

Not only that, which does seem strange for sure, it also appears some of us are booked on a "ghost cruise" since the Jade is not seen on any of the port schedules from April 22nd until May 12th, 2019. No ports have the Jade in port on any day between those dates.

That seems really strange to me. Is it possible that it takes a while for the various ports to add the ship to their schedules or has someone dropped ball at NCL (again)? I've never seen an itinerary fully bookable and yet invisible when it comes to the ports of call... cruising without a trace, how exciting is that, NOT!

Many EASTBOUND (like this one) NCL transatlantics end up being sold for $399 (+ taxes/fees) within the last 3 weeks of sailing. Granted for an inside and no perks. We've done them quite a few times.

Interline rates get to be even less expensive! Last NCL Transatlantic we did earlier this year on the Epic we paid $299 per person at interline rates!

The funky way the itinerary looks is one of the reasons I initially questioned if this was a mistake on NCL's website. While I have held my spot on the cruise I will hold off on reserving nonrefundable things like flights until the itinerary looks a little more complete online.

Jade has to be in Rome (Civi) May 12 as there's a bookable cruise out of Rome on that date!

However it's not obvious why it leaves from NYC on April 28 when its prior trip ends in Miami 4/22.

Need some sleuths:cool:
