What was your upgrade offer and what did you bid

I'm curious to know if having a room category that is more desirable and less available makes it more likely to win an upgrade bid? Do spa balcony holders have a higher chance of upgrading because a lot of people want to bid on the the spa cabins? Any thoughts or results?

It could.  If your category is sold out, it probably will factor in as helpful.  It also depends on the length of your cruise.  Are there going to be more cold days?  Those things will definitely factor in for you getting to move up.  The longer and cooler weather your cruise is in, the more desirable your spa cabin is to people bidding for one.

But, the biggest factor are always two things.   Occupancy and money.  Where you want to go and how many cabins are available for you to go to and how much money you are willing to spend to get there.

I got an offer to bid shortly after final payment - all OV showed as sold out.  Put in my bid for a balcony and it was accepted not too long after.  At least one other person had the same thing happen.  So yes, if they want to open up cabins, they will send you a bid offer.

Entertaining perhaps. Informative not. These boards should be used to share information not for amusement (and don’t tell me posters postulating on any conceivable bid winning logarithm in the book is information). Trash it.

Actually I am watching to see if bids on my cruise start to get accepted.

I don't need to know any bid pricing  information for the thread to be helpful.

The status doesn't change, except on that unknown day (up to 48 hours before embarkation) when the magical robot (or human) accepted your bidding offer.  It will then; and, only then - change to "processing" until it is finished & done.  Then the status will change to "upgraded" with the new stateroom assignment at the same time, or within the new 6 to 12/24 hours, giving you time to re-print your eDocs & eLuggage tags ... unless you are traveling & on the road, and don't have access to a b&w printer, etc.

Otherwise, each time you log in to see your bidded amount, it should be there & say "pending".  I don't have our recent one but the format is the same, from 2017, we didn't get a mini but got accepted for a balcony, midship on Deck 9.

P.S.  Good luck ... it seemed, lately, winning bids for Haven, suites & minis are getting "processed" earlier - compared to earlier days in 2019, 2018 & 2017 - nothing statistically-based, just a matter of impression.

Thank you for providing those pictures--with that I was able to figure out what you guys were talking about with relation to "pending" etc.

If people aren't comfortable sharing their bid amount in this thread, (the "What was your upgrade offer and what did you BID") maybe they should post in another thread.   If there's enough interest, someone could start the: "My bid was accepted and it's a secret" thread.  😉

I am new to this also. Have cruised before but this is my first time on Norwegian. Am in a family oceanview but usually just book inside so I am lost as to which offer is best bang for my buck, the most expensive one? My offers are:

Spa Mini Suite Balcony from $150pp

Spa Balcony from $125pp

Mini Suite with Balcony from $100pp

Balcony from $75pp

We booked our 4/11/20 cruise on the Epic using Chase Ultimate Reward points (nearly free cruise....yay). We have 70 days to go and have not received an upgrade offer. Can anyone confirm if it is still possible to get upgrade offers after booking an NCL cruise using Chase Ultimate Reward points through the Chase portal?

If you still want the space of the family room, bid for the mini suite (sitting area with sofa and much bigger bathroom).  If you like, and have time for, spa facilities, go for that mini suite.  If you are happy in the standard size cabin, bid on the balcony.  Many people have won their upgrade with a poor bid.  The value to you of the amount you bid, only you can assess.  How much per day is it worth for you?  (You don’t say how long your cruise is.)

There are more offers than available cabins, so good luck to you if you proceed.

Which ship and dates did you get the offers for?

I have to disagree--I have found this board to be very informative.  At times it's also been entertaining.  Maybe your definition of entertaining is different than mine, but when I am entertained I am happy, not annoyed.  So finding it also entertaining in addition to informative is a win-win for me.  I personally feel on of the threads, if I don't have something positive to say or add, I just skip it.  If I feel someone is asking a dumb question like if a given cabin is nice I just skip it.  There's no need to be rude or negative.  And no, I do not feel you have been rude, but you have been less than positive with this post.  And yes, you are allowed your opinion and you are allowed to post almost anything you want.........just sayin'.

I understand that, problem is I can't see that page unless I'm booked on that particular cruise.  The starting bid and maximum bid vary by cruise.

Now I understand why knowing the actual bid is helpful to you in your spreadsheet and analysis.

No.  It states inside the chase portal that anything booked with award miles is not eligible for upgrades.

You must book what you want when you use points.

On Saturday I got my bid request, pulled it up and saw the usual meter showing fair to good bids. Walked away wanting to think about it and when I pulled up again last night it now has a slide bar that no longer shows any rating on the bid. It automatically starts mid way on the slide bar with a price you can go either way .  Not sure if this is just an anomaly or the new way going forward .

I suspect an anomaly.  I've seen weird things happen on the upgrade page.  Like really low bids*lower than poor", but it wouldn't let the bid save in the end.  It's usually fixed within a day.

We're on the 3/1/20 Joy 7-day Mexico cruise in an inside cabin. We're actually on a casino "comp" we received from a hotel in Vegas (in quotes because they charge a $140 per person fee for booking over the phone 😒). Had the below options to bid for oceanview or balcony:

- Oceanview: $200pp max

- Balcony: $500pp max

I don't really have any interest in an oceanview but bid $150 pp for balcony which is our preferred cabin. Nothing has been accepted yet but I'll come back and let you know if it does.

I’m also new to the bidding process. We sail from New York to Bermuda on the encore. May 24th 2020. I would like to bid on the least expensive Haven suite offered. How likely would a poor bid be accepted? In anyone’s opinion? I mean very low😬

Probably very unlikely. Havens have been selling out on most of the sailings out of NYC that I've been tracking. There are only 13 left currently on your sailing with almost four months to go....

Just received my upgrade notification success for 2/14 Joy cruise.  Went from minisuite to 2 bdrm haven suite(H4).  My bid was the middle of the fair range.

My bids for the same cruise are acting strange, the upgrade home page has disappeared, so has the email asking me to upgrade, on my iPhone four of the bids have expired with one left pending?
