We got our upgrade!

Escape 12/21 (Xmas Sail)

# Sailing: 3

Original room: Mid ship balcony (BC) $2,822 before fees

Upgraded room: spa mini suite (M9)

Upgrade bid: $235 (I believe bid started at $150)

Upgrade date: 12/18

We already planned to get the spa pass, so an extra $70 for a midship minisuite by the spa is a great deal IMO!

Declined bids:

- Spa Balcony: $150 (started $95?)

- Courtyard Haven (H5): $430

- FF Haven (H7): $450

I leave on Dawn from San juan sunday, this morning the cruise disappeared from the site. No one on role call has reported an upgrade. On Sunday there were still about 10 rooms in each room type (oceanview, balcony, mini suites). Then Monday it showed nothing available. Today it’s gone. Not sure if they just took is down to do the upgrades or if they really sold those rooms. I’m waiting eagerly.

We leave Friday and ours did the same. Nothing available last Thursday and then disappeared. I assumed they were moving things around and planning the upgrades. And then the bids started coming in slowly... some people found out 7 days before, some 4 day, and us... 3 days.

Hey everyone!! I’m on the Getaway for the Jan 27th sailing and haven’t seen anything on here yet for this cruise! I’m in a spa balcony right now and bid for the haven spa, aft facing haven and 2 bedroom haven... just seeing if anyone has heard anything yet. I know it’s pretty rare to hear this early but it’s reportedly happened!

Also wanted to see if anyone has made this sort of upgrade on here.. seems like a pretty rare switch, probably because of the spa aspect of it. But I wouldn’t mind trading off no spa for the haven amenities any day!

Keeping my fingers crossed! We have never been in the haven before!

Alright I got the processing status on my bid:

Sailing: 12/23 Dawn from San Juan

Purchased category: IF inside (deck4)

Bids made: $135 for balcony and $70 for

Oceanview

Bid accepted: $70 oceanview accepted on 12/18 5 days prior to sailing

its not not showing which category oceanview I got yet.

I would have preferred to win balcony but was desperate to get off the medical center/ tender floor. So this is a win too.

Congrats!

Maybe hope for me yet as there was no rooms available for 3- and 4- persons on your sailing but you managed to get a upgrade to a 3- persons room!

Were those numbers per person or total?

But what a waste of a H4 cabin for only 2 people -- that second bedroom is gone to waste...LOL... in case any NCL admins are reading this...LOL...

we have twice sailed in a two bedroom suite with just 2 of us, both on upgrades.  we use the second bedroom for luggage storage, shopping bags, and we made use of the second bathroom as well either as a guest bathroom when friends came to visit/party in our room or if we both needed to get ready at the same time.  we loved having the extra space!!!

id stay put.  Haven gives you access to a small courtyard with a pool and hottub.  on the larger ships, Haven has its own restaurant and bar and a much larger courtyard.  on the smaller ships such as Gem, not worth it IMO.

Upgrades are always charged at double-occupancy, no matter how many people you have in your cabin. So if you bid $600 and win the upgrade, you will pay $1200. You cannot bid below the minimum.

I received a down grade offer...LOL

I am currently booked in an aft Haven suite (H6) and one of my upgrade offers was a 300$ per person min bid for a Haven Spa suite (H9)

In other words I could bid at least 600$ more for a room I could have had for 600$ less than what I paid if I chose it in the first place.

Sorry I am not really adding to this thread I just found this funny 😊

When I go to modify my offer the lowest bid is substantially higher than what I already bid - does that mean someone else bid and now the minimum is raised?

The bidding process is not set up like eBay - you are not openly bidding against anyone else.

NCL may have changed the minimum starting bid reflecting on the original as being too low.

@bbnjcruiser: I don't think so. The (i) button on the bid rating says that the meter given reflects the "range of successful offers on past similar cruises." I would say that maybe the jumping around of the minimum bid is related to the processing of bidding on other cruises. It does not appear that any of the bids are read at all until the batch is processed. It seems like they first process the bids for the suites, and work their way down the categories.

I ran into the same thing. I made a half hearted bid, since we have already have a suite. Shortly after, it showed below minimum for a couple weeks.  Yesterday, the minimum went down again to where I had bid.

I am am in a forward PH on the Sun.  What I can’t figure out is why I haven’t been offered to bid on the higher aft PH’s. I have only been offered the Owners Suite.
