asctony Posted July 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2018 We had a cruise booked on Symphony OTS and had to cancel and tried to rebook using the FCC. However, it was a Non-Refundable booking so we lost $100 each (paperwork cost.) Our friend just lost her husband and tried to transfer his FCC to her name. No such luck. Will never buy another FCC from RCI.
Clarea Posted July 10, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2018 Unfortunate, but those are the terms of of the non-refundable bookings. Note also that the FCC expires one year after the cancellation.
molly361 Posted July 10, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 10, 2018 And unless you booked a suite you can have picked the refundable fare and you would have gotten all your money back as long as you cancelled before final payment date

Some cruise lines refund the amount after expiration. Does RCCI?

bouhunter Posted July 10, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2018 Why would you buy a FCC? That's what I wondered. Not sure you can "buy" a FCC??
Rare sparks1093 Posted July 10, 2018 #8 Share Posted July 10, 2018 Just like any other program offered by any cruise line it doesn't work for everyone and it's essential that one understands fully the terms and conditions.
asctony Posted July 10, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted July 10, 2018 No, if the FCC expires, that money is gone. When you say FCC expires do you mean: The person Or FCC exclusion date?
Clarea Posted July 10, 2018 #10 Share Posted July 10, 2018 When you say FCC expires do you mean:The person Or FCC exclusion date? The FCC is only good for one year after the original cruise is cancelled. So if you don't take another cruise with that FCC within one year from when the original crusie was cancelled, you can no longer use that FCC. Ken at the beach Posted July 10, 2018 #11 Share Posted July 10, 2018 When you say FCC expires do you mean:The person Or FCC exclusion date? Unfortunately it would be both. The FCC is valid only for the person named on the FCC. If the person named on the FCC did pass I would try calling C&A to see if they could change the name to your new travelling companions name. Ken at the beach Posted July 10, 2018 #13 Share Posted July 10, 2018 Friend tried calling RCI to no avail. I would escalate. Try mbayley@rccl.com. His office is pretty good. I would still expect that the original expiry dates to remain unchanged and valid only if going on the same sailing as the original travelling companion. rukkian Posted July 10, 2018 #15 Share Posted July 10, 2018 What's an FCC? Future Cruise Credit. You get it if you book a non-refundable deposit, and then cancel before final payment. They give you your deposit as FCC (minus $100).
Obilix Posted July 10, 2018 #16 Share Posted July 10, 2018 Thanks, rukkian. These initials confuse. I logged onto this thread because I thought it was a new disease, like norovirus, that I should beware of!
