Do you play games on your cruise? Casino games, Card games, any of the adult or family game shows?

I have not played card games but I think it would be really a fun way to meet people. If I sail on a ship with a Casino I will allow myself a small amount - $10 or $20 to play with. If I win I walk away, if I lose at least it wasn't too much.

I am really shy to do game shows / crowd participation shows. I have done one or two but it is not the norm for me

We like to hit the casino a bit for slots for me and roulette. for hubby. We also like to play trivia but we are not very good at it most of the time. When we were on NCL Pearl we played WII Sports in the Atrium which was fun to play bowling and tennis on the huge screen they have. I like to sing and even did Karaoke once on the NCL Dawn, That was really out of my comfort zone but it was fun. Bean Bag toss is fun too. Always something to do on the ships.

I checked out board games on a Princess TransAtlantic. We played scrabble on the Lido deck with the benefit of a Scrabble dictionary, also from the library. We also borrowed a MahJong set. It did not have the rules so we played like you play on the computer. The sleeper hit, however, was the puzzle of the day. People would mob the poor soul whose job it was to put out the piles of crosswords, sudoku, and variety puzzles. My in-laws liked for me to pick up the variety puzzle and we worked on it daily while waiting for meals in the MDR.

Personally, I don't like casinos and I haven't attended any game shows.

One of the things I like being on cruise are these entertaining games shows. I always try to take part in most of these game show, in past I have even won games like, Guess the song, Minute to Win it, Gender Wars, Pyramid, Sports Tournament.

I always like to take part in the couple show but I am scared as it gets a little too embarrassing sometime.

This is our first cruise together as a family. My husband has cruised before. I love to play 500 rummy, scrabble, and bingo. My husband and daughter love trivia games. My mother in law is wondering if there is a mahjonng set on board. I would love to learn how to play mahjonng as well. I play on my cell phone but I've heard that isn't the same.

We enjoy playing trivia. We also get involved with games that the crew run.

We really aren't into the casino but I must admit that we have put in a few bucks on that game when you walk by and it looks like cash is on the verge of tipping into the tray. I know this is hard to believe but we didn't win the piles of cash on that game. We enjoy our Phase 10 card game out by the pool.

Hubby and I usually limit our casino play to 50.00 each per day, but If I am not winning, I usually walk away. If I win, I put what I have one way except what I have started with. :D

We cruised the Allure of the Seas on July 1 and participated quite a bit. It was a family cruise and several of us did - it's usually enjoyable or at least funny!

> I did... karaoke, casino [every night, lol], trivia a few days [as did my partner Mike, tho no karaoke for him!]. I also played in the poker tournament qualifier. Got pretty far but didn't get to the finals. I would have gone for a 2nd shot in Saturday's qualifier, but decided that with them changing their setup and giving away only ONE prize ..the odds just weren't that good.

> Mike's mom & dad did every trivia available & won 2 of them!

> Mike's sister did the "Sing the ...next line of the song" & made it almost to the end

> Mike's brother-in-law did something with a basketball competition

To me getting involved in something, especially on 'at sea' days is a bit of the fun :ship:

I honestly have to say we don't really make it a point to play games when we cruise, and I certainly don't have the guts to participate in a game show or other crowd participation show since I don't like to be center of attention. There are plenty of other options to keep us occupied and my husband loves the comedy shows, so that's usually where we are. The last time I was in a ship's casino was in 2006 and only for about 15 minutes. I had a $20.00 budget and that was "donated" pretty quickly. I'd rather save that $$$ for onboard drinks or for something nice from one of the ports.

We have a small casino budget, usually reserved for a slot machine that catches our eye. If no slots call to us, that's fine too. I am utterly useless with cards but the spousal unit is very good... I support him when he chooses to play by pretending I have a clue what he's saying when he talks about it later. We have enjoyed trivia and we're not so bad but we're both relatively shy and quiet when it comes to these sorts of things so this is definitely not the norm for us either.

On my first Cruise I was unaware of all the activities that were available. I did play five dollars in the casino on penny slots. My husband and I are going on honeymoon through the southern Caribbean in a month and a half on celebrity equinox. I am really hoping I can convince him to play some game shows and possibly cards with me. It should be a blast!

This will be our first cruise in October. I want to spend a small amount in the casino since I have never been to one. Also we will for sure check out the game shows. :)

I love playing American Mah Jongg (National Mah Jongg League) and my husband plays Poker. I will bring my Mah Jongg Card to see if I can pick up a game. I also like Rummycube and I am learning Canasta (which is a card game). I am thinking of buying a travel Mah Jongg set. If none of the above games work out, I will play Slots, or do the Trivia Games on board. :)

I entered a chess tournament on one cruise. There were only about a dozen of us, primarily young men in their teens and twenties. In the first round of single-elimination play, I got paired with a diminutive 3rd grader whose dad was videotaping the whole thing. I'm a decent player, really I am. This kid wiped the board with me. I was literally the first one out, made even more embarrassing by the fact that it was captured digitally for everyone's viewing pleasure. The kid shook my hand and politely said, "Good game," with a huge smile. After he took off running to loudly tell his mom (and anyone within a thousand feet) about his conquest, the dad took me aside and said not to be too disappointed -- he had just finished first in the state for his age group in scholastic chess.

No, it didn't really help the sting. Here's the rub, though. I lost the minute I was paired with him; two outcomes: I lose to a child, or I win against someone half a century younger than I am. I did stay to watch the rest of the tournament and the kid ended up losing in the final game. It was amazing to watch his little mind make the calculations.

We don't play the cruise ship hosted ones but we always have a shuffle board tournament among family and friends who sail with us. Also we bring card games to play as a group as well. Usually push some tables together in a bar and send someone to the promenade for snacks.

I've played some of the trivia games but it's a bit more of a crazy crowd setting than I prefer. I would be fine if I was playing with people I knew but it's a bit awkward playing with strangers without an opportunity to get to know each other better.

I'm not into the casinos (fortunately I'm traveling on casino-free Viking now!). The bingo people seem a little intense. It would be nice to be on a ship with games that are easier for smaller groups like Cards Against Humanity, Uno, etc. More socializing, more fun!

On a cruise I am far too lazy and chilled out to take part in any form of game shows or organized card games!!! But my wife is a terror, mention the word bridge and she is all for it!! She loves the longer cruises where there is a bridge contest going through all the afternoons on sea days. She even loves the morning lessons those days too. Being from New Zealand she has little idea about Standard American bidding so tries to improve her knowledge.

I like to play a game or 2 of BINGO and we always try trivia and the Putt Putt golf tournament. Have not won anything yet but I'm still on that quest for a Golden Ship on a Stick!

We have been on two cruises and love to participate in the Trivia games. On our second cruise we met some really nice folks playing trivia and still keep in touch. We are also card players (Euchre is a favorite). We attend the game shows but have not felt comfortable participating YET. Maybe next time!

Happy Cruising

My wife and I loved playing Bingo whenever we cruised. As it was also my wife's favorite we often planned our day around it. We didn't win often, but almost always enjoyed playing and meeting new folks.

We allow a small budget to "lose" in the casino. If mini golf can be considered a game, we play it and have a great time doing. Sometimes we will participate in ring toss or trivia games.

I am right there with you! I am too shy to do the crowd participation shows, etc. I love to hit the casino but I don't do the card games. I set aside $100 for the casino. On our last cruise I was down to my last $5 and I hit a $600 jackpot!

I'm not sure if they are available on other ships but Carnival has 'claw-machine' games in their casinos. (Liberty & Victory) It makes you feel like a kid in the arcade. He won $100 on our first cruise. Our kids were so impressed (NOT) when he showed them a wad of $1's! Then they asked to borrow money to go to the REAL arcade! LOL.

We play bingo every time it is available. We have never won anything there but it's a great way to sit and relax with a drink where it's mostly quiet.

I can't wait for our next cruise!

I really enjoy playing board games during a sea day. I find it very relaxing and brings me back to my youth when times were a little simpler for me. :D:D:D:D

I am a maniac for Trivia games. I feel utterly thrilled when I win a ball-point pen! I adore the Trivia and love to find a group to play with.

I have even changed my preferred cruise line so that the Trivia questions are not all about pop singers of the past 5 years.

I would love to have more "Name That Tune" style games.

Sometimes my husband thinks that I cruise just for the trivia and nothing else...and he's almost right!

Edited to add: Of course I forgot--my husband loved to play bridge and we actually managed to become the Bridge Champions on a cruise once. There were few contenders and our laurels in no way reflect our talent.:lips-sealed:

My DH and I usually play all the bingo games (and have even won the big jackpot a couple of times). We also do almost all of the trivia games unless it's a topic we have no knowledge of. We usually try to pair up with others to form a team. We were out on a cruise last year and the first night I was sitting at a blackjack table - this couple stopped and asked "Didn't we play trivia together on our Transatlantic cruise last year?" Turns out we did and paired up with them on that cruise as well. We also paired up with a Canadian couple for trivia on a cruise several years ago & have since cruised with them on other cruises!

DW and I love doing trivia, though finding good partners can be hard. We have also attended some of the audience participation game shows.

Now that we have a daughter this will probably all change though :)
