Rob&joanne Posted July 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2018 Hi, we're only in port between 9 and 6 pm-given that means we probably have only 7 hours in total to travel, is a trip to Cinque Terra do-able or is that too ambitious. Any suggestions as to how to get there would be welcome. Thanks
hal2008 Posted July 29, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2018 Doable as train takes just little over an hour from Genoa train station. So figure out time from port to train station. Also leave buffer for delayed trains and missed trains. Also pick only 2 towns - Vernazza and Manarola. if something is better than nothing philosophy rule sthen it is doable. Otherwise wait for a land vacation and spend 2-3 days.
drwong Posted August 2, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2018 I second Hal2008's advice. It's quite a long haul and you're at the mercy of TrenItalia's schedules. If you haven't been there already, I'd recommend an excursion to Portofino, and save Cinque Terre for a port of call at La Spezia instead, where it's a short bus or taxi ride from the port. sofsolnanny Posted August 2, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2018 Hi, we did the MSC excursion to Cinque Terre and Portofino from Genoa last year. It involved coach, small train and a boat ride into Portofino.....fabulous day.
