Nrknits Posted July 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2018 For those of you who have the Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card, do you still get Princess (or other) travel insurance? We are thinking of getting the card and it looks like the coverage for my husband and I is fine, my specific concern is about my elderly mother. If she should take ill, would I be covered for trip cancellation, if necessary? I know with Princess I am (cancel for any reason). Thanks for any input you have to offer. moki'smommy Posted July 23, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2018 PLEASE read the fine print. I have the credit card. In fairness, it was 2 years ago that I read it, but one of the conditions is that you must open the claim within 7 days of the occurrence. Translation--if you have booked a 7 night cruise which is delayed 1 day due to a weather issue (the ship did not depart on the scheduled day), you have to open the claim that day...because it will be too late by the time you get home. Also, look carefully to see if it covers medical issues. Yes, I buy private insurance (cheaper than Princess coverage for us, YMMV) and consider what comes thru the credit card as a "back up" in the event the purchased insurance doesn't cover all or part of the claim. We've filed a couple of small claims on our private insurance--never had a problem.
