Maybe something that visually says "we feel your pain". Maybe a crowd of people wrapping their arms around an obviously distraught person. We don't have one, but if we did, I'd use that one! 😔 1
Rare drron29 Posted October 24, 2023 #18807 Share Posted October 24, 2023 A sea day today on the Muse. Ready for breakfast at 1045 but then remembered that there was a cocktail party for transiting guests tomorrow so decided to make that breakfast. I really like a tomato juice for breakfast but today it tastes different. They keep wanting to call it a Bloody Mary. I feel much better now. 4

Rare mysty Posted October 26, 2023 #18814 Share Posted October 26, 2023 Last night Myster and I joined a couple of dear friends for a Supper Club Dinner at Black Tartan Kitchen. The guest supplier was Kyle from Milkhouse Farm + Dairy, an amazing little farm from our own backyard in Smiths Falls, ON. It was a a 4 course tasting dinner tailored exclusively to showcase their incredible cheeses and lamb. The sauce In the little pitchers above was whiskey sauce. Delicious! The tart filling was feta cheese. Incredible!
lincslady Posted October 26, 2023 #18815 Share Posted October 26, 2023 Lovely 'little smackerels' of food, Mysty. I will be out for a Turkish mezze style lunch next week, and look forward to lots of different things to nibble at, so much more fun than a huge steak and fries. Though I do vaguely remember being a teenager, when nothing appealed more than a huge steak. Lola

Each has its place. Especially when someone else is cooking all the different little nibbles! Absolutely delicious but way too much work to make at home. I'm happy to cook the steak and frites. Though @Stumblefoot will dispute whether I actually "cook" it, or just warm it slightly past room temperature... As long as it's warmer than the red wine, I'm happy. I'm looking forward to see what they serve us for meals in Botswana. On our past two safaris, the food has been an unexpected highlight. Interesting ingredients and great preparation. Maybe they are just fattening us up to feed to the lions! PS, enjoy your lunch! I bet it will be delicious. I’ve seen your steak and there’s no way the center is warmer than whatever red wine you’re having with it. 🥩vs.🍷 I truly look forward to the day when I get to cook a steak for you. It’ll be the easiest grilling job I’ve done, ever. When I remove my steak to rest, I’ll put yours on. Shockingly, I do worry that it may be too early for yours though. 😆 Lincslady, your meal sounds fun! Hope you can take a pic, or two, for us here to enjoy. 4
lincslady Posted October 26, 2023 #18819 Share Posted October 26, 2023 Would if I could, but sadly too much of a Luddite; I just about manage emails, looking at websites and ordering stuff, and that is my limit. Everything else is a mystery and my phone is on pay as you go. I just have a laptop with an old fashioned keyboard attached - so much nicer to use, and a landline phone when possible. My breed are rapidly dying out. The dinosaur, Lola 4

Rare jpalbny Posted October 27, 2023 #18823 Share Posted October 27, 2023 Starting our usual pre-vacation game of "clean out the fridge" tonight. I had a piece of slab pancetta left over from our shopping trip to Eataly a few weeks ago. It wasn't guanciale, but it made a nice Pasta alla Gricia anyway. A red wine was called for to cut all of the fat. Since we're going out to dinner with friends on Saturday, and going out on Halloween to avoid the festivities, that makes only five dinners left to cook until we leave next Friday morning. Will dig around the freezer and see what tomorrow brings.
