Stinger-pr Posted August 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2018 There are a couple of beaches nearby. Which you choose depends on your preferences and expectations. The closest one is Escambron beach near the closed Caribe Hilton hotel. There are no amenities or chair/umbrella rentals and usually has a bit of rough waves, as do most of the beaches on the Atlantic side of the island. About 5 minutes farther, besides the Condado Plaza (also closed due to post-hurricane Maria repairs) there is a small strech of beach called "La Playita". It's usually calms since it lies just on the other side of a natural wave breaker and on the entrance on the Condado lagoon. A bit farther up you can use the beach behind the Marriott Stellaris hotel which is also a nice stretch of sand but, as with Escambron, seas can be a bit rough. Near the airport is Isla Verde beach which consists of two stretches a few miles long with, usually, calmer waves since there's a natural reef a few miles out that protect the beach. There's an area at the end of Tartak st. where you can rent chairs and umbrellas and has a bar nearby which also serves food. Taxis are very easy to catch to/from all of these beaches, except Escambron (hard to get a return taxi, but about a two mile walk to the pier). The longest trip would be to Isla Verde (around 20 minutes, $20 taxi ride for up to 5 people each way).
