campolady Posted August 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2018 (edited) We will be in Malaga next May 1, their Labor Day.. Will everything be closed for the holdiay? All the major shops will be closed but some small, privately owned ones will open. However, all the bars and restaurants will all be open and very busy. All museums will be open and the stunning Cathedral will be open from 2-6 p.m. As many local families visit the city that day there will be a real buzz and great atmosphere. Rio1978 Posted August 12, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2018 We were there a few years back on may day.may 1st. We arrived just after a procession. Later in evening there was a protest march and the whole of Las rambles was filled with riot police. Strangely entertaining lol. Never felt in danger. The march was peaceful. The riot police just a precaution to protect tourists. Or so the policeman told me.

When you say Las Ramblas do you mean Malagas main street the Avenida Principal Rio or are you confusing the city with Barcelona that usually has a protest march on 1st May?
