Entertainment reveal???

Neither Facebook nor Instagram gave a time for the reveal posted. A time would be nice, since some people work and can’t be glued to Facebook all day.

No idea.I don't do Twitter where it was mentioned, or other sites so not even sure how it will be revealed...

Well kept secret without much fanfare!

I found this, so likely is about the theater, as suspected. I have a feeling there is more to the theater than just it being round - I wonder if it has the capability for something unusual?

I wouldn't be surprised if they also revealed the art gallery, ILounge, boutiques, casino details, kids/teen activities, but we will see soon! They may want to drag this out another few months.

This LLP quote from a press release gives an interesting look inside her head...

"Lutoff-Perlo: What makes Celebrity different? Think about a continuum where at one end you have luxury and the other end you have a more mainstream or common brand. We found that many customers believe that luxury is pretentious. We are what I’d consider approachable luxury. We have the most beautiful ships with the best food, traveling to the most interesting destinations. In fact, while a lot of cruise lines are feature-based (e.g., flying simulators, ice rinks, etc.), we aren’t. Our brand is experience based and not feature based. We talk about sitting in a modern luxury – it straddles between premium and luxury. We are among the most awarded brand among those that we compete with and have the highest net promoter score – people love us and recommend us. Interestingly, while many cruise lines tend to target a specific demographic, we don’t. Our modern luxury positioning is more about a psychographic, an attitude, and a desired way to vacation. So we actually have everything from millennials to boomers on our ships and a lot of multi-generational families.

Every day we wake up we are thinking about how to take these experiences to the next level. If you think about it, we need 300,000 new customers over the next few years and to do this we have to deliver an experience that is worthy of being talked about, shared, and repeating. That’s what keeps me up at night but is also what excites me about the future."

So I guess Celebrity's new catchphrase will be "Approachable Luxury"? :D

Great Post! You always find the best info! Thank you for sharing. I totally get this as a millennial. My DH and I are always looking for modern luxury that doesn’t have a country club feel. So I guess I would call that “Approachable Luxury.” We have dinned in Mauro many times over the last few years and while we love the food, my DH always complains that it is too stuffy and he feels uncomfortable. I never felt uncomfortable but I am more adaptive to my surroundings. I think this is why the Edge is so appealing to us! I am excited for “Approachable Luxury"

Oh dear. The entertainment reveal is up on the web site. Looks interesting and unusual. Now my DH was not really crazy about Topper and some of the other more unique shows on past cruises.... I think this may be a bit over the top for him. But I am sure there is plenty of great entertainment. They are clearly pushing the envelop and revolutionizing entertainment by including technology and "performance art". The ship really does seem to be targeting younger audience. https://www.celebritycruises.com/edge/entertainment/

I must say that I Am REALLY, REALLY and REALLY interested in the entertainment venues and presentation as seen in the reveal!

Nothing like it has ever been or ever will be like on other ships in any company, that I Am aware of...

Many times I do not go to the shows currently, but this new approach will have me trying to fit in as many as I can and then some...

I understand they may not be for some others, I love and enjoy colorful and active brain stimulations which such presentations can create... The Theater and Eden will be my mainstays for entertainment, for sure.

I know that only half of our group will like the new venues, but there will be the traditional types of venues available to, so all is not 'up-dated' LOL...

bon voyage

I'm a bit overwhelmed looking at the entertainment. I guess I'm not surprised it is edgy, but I was hoping for some inside places to listen to live music (guitarist, duo, strings). It looks like the Rooftop Garden will be a nice relaxing space during the day, if not raining. Hopefully they will have areas at night with the more traditional musicians.

The Club doesn't appeal to me that much. We are not into DJ's (or at least the ones we've experienced on X ships). Silent Disco is fun, so maybe we would enjoy some of the high tech stuff. Hopefully they will have varying entertainment that will appeal to a broad range of ages and interests.

The Theater is lovely - again, hope they will have the variety of shows that will appeal to different ages and interests. It sounds like they will have good visiting comedians and singers, so that will be good. We are not into X production shows usually, but will certainly give them a chance. Maybe they will be wonderful, with the round theater and amazing special effects.

The ship has a very energetic feel and maybe we will be into it more after we retire. I am very happy we were able to get a good deal on suites this time around. I think we may have the best of both worlds - hopefully quiet areas for relaxation and live music in The Retreat and some lively choices for entertainment on the rest of the ship, when desired. We will likely not be in suites in the future so will see if we enjoy the entertainment overall before booking more. I will have a great time trying it all (well, almost everything - I don't know about the drone racing or the "wild discovery after the kids are in bed" late nights at The Club, but may at least take a peek ;)).

"Four stage areas and three giant, moving LED backdrops offer an ever-changing canvas for the productions that live here. A main stage extends into and above the audience, taking performances to a whole new level—literally. With rotating spiral staircases, 18 synchronized projectors, aerial rigging, and more, the technology behind the scenes in The Theatre is so dynamic, it not only showcases the performers, but at times it will steal the show."

"During the day, think of The Club as a gathering space. Hone your creativity during Art Hour or game it up during the Rec Room series, with Laser Maze, Drone Hunting and Racing, Retro Gaming, and interactive game shows.

In the evening, The Club transforms into a place where talk shows, game shows, live music, and DJs reign supreme. Pull up a seat at the bar and relax or grab that cocktail and jump into the action as the evening’s events play out.

Once the kids are in bed, The Club transforms into a place of wild discovery. The nightlife here is full of engaging moments you’ll be talking about for days after—or maybe you’d prefer to keep them to yourself. One thing is for sure though, a night in The Club will have you ready to come back for more."

"Andromeda

You’ll step through the futuristic body scanner of Andromeda at The Club and become someone else for the evening. This high energy, interactive diversion is the ultimate in role play experiences that lets you be someone else—just for the night.

Hypno Cam Party

Show us your best moves at our Hypno Cam party, where modern technology displays the group’s selfies Warhol-style on a giant LED screen behind the dance floor."

"Rooftop Garden:

The Rooftop Garden is a living playscape designed to awaken the inner-child in all of us. Slow down. Wander. Daydream. During the day, find a cozy chair and get lost in a good book. Sip a refreshing cocktail as you gaze out over the open ocean. Drift away to the rhythm of live musical performances. Get caught up in a friendly game of giant chess with fellow vacationers.

At night, experience A Taste of Film, an interactive fusion of food and film that will excite your palate and your imagination. Be transported by the music at live outdoor concerts featuring a diverse selection of music. Curl up at a unique movie experience, our Rooftop Garden Cinema Series, which includes a live music performance at intermission. Or gaze up at the sea of stars above you at our Beyond the Edge Astronomy Series. Whether it’s the views beyond or the action within, the resort deck is the coolest place under the sun and stars."

"Main Pool

At the center of this space (but not the center of attention) is a 25-yard lap pool—the largest in Celebrity’s fleet—featuring in-pool loungers. From the relaxing Headspace Wellness and Silent Trivia to full-out excitement with poolside fashion shows, live musical performances, and lively pool parties, you’ll be entertained on many levels."

I'm thinking our cruise in January will be so crowded that we won't be able to experience many of these areas. My husband uses a small electric chair and, other than the theater, might be an issue for us. Hope not. If it seems that way it might be one and done for the Edge class for us. Will post our experience after the cruise but hope it works out. So many interesting things to do.

Pat, I found a website with some info about accessibility on the Edge. It had a lot of things listed (like lower height bar area at Martini Bar). I will try to find it again. :D

I don't know about ya'll, but when I go to the theater I like a full on stage production with dancing and dramatic set pieces. I don't just want to be wowed by a giant led screen and people dangling from the ceiling. I hope this theater has thrills to match it's over the top looks. ;):o:confused::(

Going from here to check out the website reveal. From the postings here it looks like some kool aid from the hippie van has been widely shared along with magic shroom dust! Can you say psychdelic! Get your hippie van tee shirts ready..they will be a hit on thia cruise,

We"ll sample what we think we may like..but I personally have no need to be " someone else.." .even for one night .

Astronomy Program looks interesting although it was a previous fail on S class due to sky and wind conditions...that,s why QM 2 has an awesome INDOOR planetarium

Theater also looks awesome..hope the shows make sense!

And comfy chairs at the Rooftop!

Thanks for making me laugh out loud today! :D I was thinking at first I wouldn't want to pretend to be someone else either, but the more I thought about it, maybe after a couple of cocktails it might be fun to be someone else (I'm sure my DH would be intrigued by this ;)).

Thanks VT. I would appreciate that but I seriously think the first year with this ship might be a hassle for us. Still, looking forward to the experiences we can enjoy. Just strolling the decks might be an experience!

People watching might be quite interesting!

I believe that also. AND, it will be interesting to see if folks "dress up" nicely as in the pictures. This is a new ship, so-called "higher class"? Those renderings are not typical folks on Celebrity these days. Just saying! Should be very eye-opening and interesting.:D:cool:

It looks fantastic to me. I can't wait to check out the shows and the Club.

I wonder if reservations will be needed for the shows?

Edit: I just read that no advance sign up is needed for any events
