Fresh Lobster

Gilbert's Chowder House has been our "go to" place for lobster in Portland.  Not fancy but good service and lots of lobster options. Seafood chowder is also delicious.  Right along waterfront.

Great information, just booked my New England/Canada Cruise today.

You go out on a lobster boat and help catch lobster, then you can buy one and take it to the Portland Lobster Company and for a fee they will cook it for you and provide side dishes. You can't get much fresher than that.

 

How was the excursion? We were planning on doing that in Portland.

It was a fun excursion. Unfortunately, our ship left port early afternoon so we didn't have time to have the lobster cooked fresh for us, but others on the excursion got to purchase the lobster for a very reasonable price.

West Street Cafe in Bar Harbor is good, Gilbert's in Portland has excellent chowder. In Boston we had the best lobster Mac and cheese in Fanuiel Hall. At least a whole lobster tail of meat in each portion
