CruiseLover15 Posted August 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2018 All, I have done a lot of RC cruises, but I have recently become almost addicted to having a glass of very sweet tea every day. I assume there is no way to take a gallon or 1/2 gallon of tea on board. Would love to have a glass on my balcony every day.

taglovestocruise Posted August 23, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2018 Order a pot of tea from room service every morning, should be no charge. Save it for the afternoon, fill it with ice from your ice bucket, sugar it up and presto, sugar loaded ice tea.
Biker19 Posted August 23, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2018 I assume there is no way to take a gallon or 1/2 gallon of tea on board. To better your chances take a 1/2 gal - you can claim it as your emotional support/medical necessity beverage.
Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted August 23, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 23, 2018 Oh you are not a sweet tea addict are you? probably not a fan of diabetes. :)
Tillie43 Posted August 23, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2018 Not exactly southern sweet tea, but I’m bringing a bottle of Mio Sweet Tea flavor my water or tea from the WJ. Not a big fan of naked tea.
Langley Cruisers Posted August 23, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 23, 2018 I assume there is no way to take a gallon or 1/2 gallon of tea on board..:halo:. Well how would you accomplish this? Home made, do you mean? I think it would be confiscated as it certainly could look like a container with alcohol inside. If it is a small, commercially-made 1/2 gallon, that might fly, but not sure.. cb at sea Posted August 23, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 23, 2018 You can add sugar AFTER its' cooled, but you really, REALLY have to stir! It's doable.....hubby only drinks unsweetened...and I like it sweet! So, I've grown quite a few stirring muscles! Or, simply brew a cup of strong HOT tea...add sugar, then mix with ice and water.....after all, that's all sweet tea takes!
chefjrd Posted August 23, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 23, 2018 You could always buy a bottle of cane sugar syrup and add however much you'd like to the tea available. Mixes so much easier in cold products than granules.
gerif Posted August 23, 2018 #11 Share Posted August 23, 2018 Definitely make a cup of hot tea and then add sugar so it dissolves. You can then pour it over a glass of ice.
CruiseLover15 Posted August 23, 2018 Author #12 Share Posted August 23, 2018 Thanks, all. I was thinking like a 1/2 gallon from McDonald's or Chick fil a, I will use some of the tips and improvise. I used to drink Diet Dr. Peppers and always brought some small bottles with me.
Dett Posted August 23, 2018 #13 Share Posted August 23, 2018 We like sweet southern Iced Tea. Tea on ships is horrible. It’s way too strong. We just live with soft drinks when on a cruise. I drink hot tea in the morning. I don’t like the hot tea that they bring for room service. They use the same pot for coffee and it ruins the water. We can get some better hot water out of the water machine in the Diamond Lounge.

Try the Arizona brand Southern Sweet Tea...It comes in a gallon bottle or large cans...unopened you just might be able to take this onboard....This lazy southern sweet tea drinker buys her's at Walmart...it's the best tasting pre-made brand I've tried. Best of luck y'all.
Bookish Angel Posted August 23, 2018 #16 Share Posted August 23, 2018 Bring or make your own. That pale amber, watery iced tea on board is so weak I'm not sure any tea leaves ever touched it. :( I like my tea strong and not very sweet so I make my own with hot water and tea bags if I want something other than iced water. Mcdonaldbam Posted August 23, 2018 #20 Share Posted August 23, 2018 Ask the bartender for some simple syrup. We run into this because we now live in TN due to the military but when we go back home to OH we can’t find any sweet tea. So we now order tea and add the simple syrup which most bartenders have becuse they add it to the drinks.
Pattyhoo Posted August 23, 2018 #21 Share Posted August 23, 2018 I bring Lipton tea bags and a jar of simple syrup (costs about $3 in the cocktail mix area of the supermarket) I have not had a bottled sweet tea that I enjoy. Thank goodness, we finally have a Chik Filet near my home. Jersey Mikes also has southern sweet tea.

sfaaa Posted August 24, 2018 #23 Share Posted August 24, 2018 Forget sugar. Plenty of free honey and pancake syrup available for the taking at breakfast. Get an empty cup and fill up for use later.
Merion_Mom Posted August 24, 2018 #24 Share Posted August 24, 2018 Hey, thanks. I will try that brand. Cans will be more likely to be allowed, since theoretically you can't tamper with cans. :)
alane10 Posted August 24, 2018 #25 Share Posted August 24, 2018 I agree with whoever said make hot tea, add sugar, and pour over ice. However, if you don’t want to put in that effort, Starbucks has made iced tea for me, and I’m guessing they would be willing to add sugar or simple syrup.
