lovescats5 Posted August 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2018 We will have a genie on our Anthem cruise on Sept. 6 and I was wondering if anyone that has been on the Anthem with a genie can tell me the easiest way to debark. Would we keep our luggage and take it with us that day or send it down it the night before and then have to hunt for it before leaving? Many thanks for any help. AshleyDillo Posted August 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Last September we were told to hold it in our room. They came with a cart and loaded the luggage on it shortly before we were walked off the ship. We met our luggage after we got down the gangway and it we were able to take it to customs. Not sure if this has changed since then. It was a very quick, pleasant and easy process for us.
lovescats5 Posted August 30, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Thank you for the information. We have only used the luggage valet before on the Oasis. This sounds like an easy way to take care of the luggage.
AshleyDillo Posted August 30, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2018 The genie will tell you before the last night what the procedure will be and if the valet is available. We had a two-story loft suite and they even offered to bring the upstairs luggage down the stairs for us. Our genie asked before the last day what time we wanted to leave the ship and he was coordinating with all of his parties so he could escort them off personally. He walked with us almost all the way to the customs counter.
4everAfamily Posted August 30, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Your genie and luggage valet will take you off the ship and hand you off to a porter. Be sure to have a tip ready for both the luggage valet and the porter. It was our understanding that the luggage valet would stay with us through customs, but they can only go out so far. I had that tip already out. We then had to stop, transfer our luggage to the porter, and get out extra tip money. I like to be prepared so I don’t need to get my wallet and take cash out. Especially, since it’s so hectic in the terminal.
