balcap Posted September 3, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2018 I know this is a question for my travel agent ( who I will call tomorrow) but they are closed this long weekend, so just wondering if anyone here might know the answer. We are scheduled to cruise on Oct 28th ( final payment already done) and have not purchased insurance. Suddenly an unexpected problem with hubby's small business and he absolutely cannot leave for this cruise. My son is willing to escort me on this cruise( ie replace my husband )......does anyone know how complicated and costly this is to replace my son for my husband ? THANKS so much in advance for any info you may have........
Rare shof515 Posted September 3, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2018 if you book with early saver, they will be a 50 dollar fee

susan1957 Posted September 3, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2018 ALL I KNOW is ...I have asked this question many times and get different answers every time. I read that if you book EARLY SAVER....or CASINO RATE of any kind....you CAN'T change the name....now the person above said with early saver you can change the name for $50.00....GO FIGURE....WHO KNOWS
cruisewiththekids Posted September 3, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 3, 2018 I was able to go online and change a name on my booking the night before my cruise with no problem and no fee. Booked past guest rate. You may not be able to do it yourself since you used a travel agent. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
rmvst Posted September 3, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 3, 2018 I have done a name change on a premier offer before. But the invited guest must go. So if you were the invited guest there shouldn't be a problem. If your husband was the invited guest then you won't be able to make the change, definitely call your TA
tcw92 Posted September 3, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 3, 2018 My son cancelled his girlfriend (ex now) and it was $250 cancellation fee (prior to final payment date) He purchased insurance, so they kept $50 and the other $200 is able to be used towards a future cruise. I am booked on a cruise in April and my moms best friend decided not to go. I called Carnival and was told that since it is prior to final payment date, the cost is $50, but if after final payment date then full deposit amount ($250) would be lost. The charge of 50 dollars and allowing the 200 for future cruise is standard procedure for early saver cruises. The insurance had no bearing on that. I like past guest because prior to final payment date there is no penalty to change names or drop the cruise.

Your rate has certain conditions. You need to find out who the rate was offered to - you or your husband. Good luck - hope it was you :)

I have done it before with Early Saver rate.
kendracruises Posted September 3, 2018 #12 Share Posted September 3, 2018 The person with the Premier/Casino offer must be on the cruise so if it was you good. If your husband the offer will not apply to you any longer since he is not going. They may remove the casino rate and charge you the going rate for the cruise instead.
