Tifflih Posted September 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2018 Are Uber or Lyft easy to get at these ports (i.e. Maui, Kona, Kauai)? Can anyone share your recent experience using these services in terms of wait time and pick locations. Thanks!

Czmzlz Posted September 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2018 Taxis seem to be cheaper, at least in our situation. We were parking our rental at Maui's airport and Uber would have been $23 for the 3 mile ride to the ship. The taxi was $10 or $12.....

Plus - at least for the time being, and the rules will supposedly change on this but when is another question - Uber drivers are not allowed to pick up riders at airports on Maui. As we recall, drop-offs can be made in the parking lot area.

Family wait in the cell phone lot & pick us up when ready on the upper departure level because previously there was little traffic. There are designated curbside pickup points for Uber/Lyft drivers park however they park anywhere or circle the road resulting in gridlock. I’m happy to know that’s not allowed at OGG to create more congestion. Maui/Kauai - If you already have rental car, most of them - Avis, Hertz, Enterprise, Budget, Payless - come pick and drop off from the ports. Please call them just to confirm. Didn't know about this on the first day in Maui and so used Lyft for going to the airport to pick up the rental car from the Maui port. Kona - you may want to use the rental car agency walking distance from the place that the ship folks will tender you to. @Kona - there is no port and so you use a tender to get off the ship and to the nearest pier. We didn't know about this and so we used Lyft from pier to go to the Kona airport to pick up the car but got to know this from the rental car and so in-fact we also dropped the car near the pier during return rather than dropping it at the airport - saves money and $$... Good Luck !!
SunshneNC Posted September 16, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 16, 2018 I just came back from the Hawaiian cruise. Norwegian provides lot of shuttle services. We rented a Jeep in Maui and Kuaui. Budget shuttle provides shuttle round trip. In Kona there is shuttle to Walmart/Target. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

The shuttle services are provided by the car rental agencies and the stores - not NCL.
