Olivia (Hawaii)

Recommended Posts

In a very improbable fashion, Hurricane Olivia is aiming for Hawaii but is forecast to weaken to tropical storm level before getting close. It is approaching from the East-northeast - threatening the East/North sides of the islands of Hawaii and Maui first.

Open for discussion here and will post and interpret as we see it progress.

Well, next Wednesday is going to be a busy day here on the Hurricane Zone. Olivia looks to cross the Big Island as a tropical storm so here's going to be a lot of rain for all the eastern islands. Too soon to know the impact or timing related to cruises.

Olivia looks to cross the islands Tuesday night to Wednesday now. North edge of Hawaii, and onshore winds and waves will be rough for Maui.

No change to forecast. Tuesday night and Wednesday, tropical storm strength will affect Hawaii and Maui assuming path keeps holding.

Looks like Olivia crosses the islands Wednesday morning local time, or mid day for us in the mainland.
The path is now looking to cross Maui, with greatest impact to Maui, Moloka'i, Lanai, and Kaho'olawe.

Olivia is a strong tropical storm so there will be some damaging wind and a lot of rain again. Let's hope it moves through more quickly than the last one.

tropical storm warnings were dropped for the Big Island, and Olivia is crossing Maui today. Tropical storm warnings continue for Ouahu also but impact should be light there.
