Main Dining Room Reservations

Recommended Posts

New to Oceania so could anyone advise me if you are required to make a time reservation for the Main Dining Room or is it basically walk in?

Also, generally what is the the dress code for the evening in all of the restaurants. Are women's slacks and blouses acceptable as well as men's slacks and button shirts?

Thank You

Yes it is open seating just like going to a restaurant at home show up when you want they seat you

The only difference is they will ask if you want to share a table or not

Many dress code threads here but basically yes that attire will work

Yes, you just walk in at the preferred time. You will be asked if you want to share a table. If you prefer not to, it's best to arrive no later than 6:30 or you'll have some wait time. As to dress style, yes what you state will be fine. On the Riviera jeans were NOT permitted in any rest. at night except Terrace grill. Some may dispute that, but the sign was at every rest. entry.

We have often been able to get a table for two after 6:30 without a wait. It just depends on how busy the main dining room is.

Ditto to what GrammieK said. We actually prefer to share but sometimes there aren't other people there when we show up to want to share so we end up at a two-top. We've never had to wait for one under those circumstances as far as I can recall, and we tend to go to dinner around 7:30 or 8:00.

It's true your odds are better for getting a table without having to wait if you go earlier, but it's not an absolute rule that you must.

Agree with Mura. We don’t like the 18:30 rush for many reasons and prefer to show up at the GDR 19:00ish or later. We always ask to share, but many times there is no one to share with. Been seated at six tops to await other sharing couples that don’t appear within a reasonable time. Have dine alone on six tops on several occasions.

That's why the maitre d' has showed us to a two-top if no one else is around -- a few times we were two couples sitting at a six top and then they cleared the two extra places. But they don't like to do that!

Never had the experience of dining in solitary splendor at a large table, though!

At least you have plenty of room when that happens ...
