Last minute tour/driver on Santorini

I've read about some issues getting the independent transfer by boat to Oia after docking in Santorini. If we opt to take the cable car up to the top, will there be taxis or other tour operators willing to take us on a tour of the island without a prior reservation? I know we can take the bus to Oia, but my DH is not keen on buses.

Yes, was there on September 11th, and we took the cable car up and found Skyline Travel. Amazing day and less than half the price of our quotes for a pre-arranged tour that we declined before leaving home. We saw more too!

See my full review on the Silversea boards under “Live from the Whisper”.

Recommend Panos as a driver. He was fun and informative.

It appeared to be very easy to take the boat transportation offered from the tender drop off to get to Oia. This was included in our private tour when we docked in Santorini last month. There were several vendors standing near the drop off selling these. We ended up waiting onboard this two level "jet boat" for other tenders to arrive...much longer than we expected.

Hi Ashland, Did you book the boat to Oia beforehand or just on the day, can you advise how long you had to wait on the "Jet Boat" before starting off and also what time of day it was.  We are considering getting off the ship as early as possible and taking boat to Oia with transfer to Fira by bus.  Any help appreciated. Kind regards, Viv.

We purchased a private group tour with "Greek Traveling"  their tour "Oia Experience" it included the jet boat to Oia. We were told to meet after we exited the tender at 9:00am. We then walked along the pier to the jet boat and had assumed it was just for our tour...it was not and was a large double deck boat. We ended up waiting until about 10:00am before the boat actually left as it ended up being available for anyone wanting to purchase tickets at the dock...and they appeared to be waiting for other tenders to arrive.
