I don't know about private hot springs in TW, but the ones we're stayed at in Taitung County on east-central, attached to resort-style hotels are required guests using the facilities to shower first and wear proper bath attires, including bath caps (required by law) before entering ... they are high in sulfur & smell (rotten egg) accordingly due to the geothermal minerals.

Those without sensitive skins should also check their own family doctor & follow advice/guidelines posted at these natural springs - water temperature was hot & prolonged exposure, not a wise choice. Wash & rinse dry those mineral water afterward, it's like using a shared public swimming pool ...

SWMBO booked a private day room (90 minutes) in the Beitou District of Taipei last summer. Comfy chairs and lounge, private shower, tea, dessert snacks and of course the tub. The one we went too has lunch or afternoon tea packages that you can add.

Beitou is easy to get to. It is on the subway line from Taipei, about 20 minutes from the Taipei Train Station hub. My experience was to take a private room for 2 hours, and it is really up to you to wear anything or nothing at all.
