What time is the last tender back in Bar Harbor?

Departure time is listed as 5pm. Does that mean the last tender is 4:30?

 

Looking at a tour that gets back at 4, and wondering if that's cutting it too close...

I was told there would be a line at the dock for last tender at 4:30. Oli’s Trolley said the tour that gets back at 4 should be fine.

Oli's Trolley will unload about a 5 minute walk from the tender dock. Oli's has been doing this for years, and if Oli's says that the tour will be back at 4pm, you can count on it.

 

If there is a line waiting for the tender and if the line is more paxs then the tender holds, a second tender will be provided for the overage. No paxs will be left standing on the tender dock.

I thought for tender ports, the last tender leaves shore one hour before the ship's departure time, instead of the 30 minute all aboard time for docked ports.

 

That being said, if the tour operator guarantees you'll be back in time (barring unforeseen circumstances of course), I would go with that. They do not want to be known as the ones who caused passengers to miss the ship.

I sent a email asking if we would be ok on the tour that ends at 4 with a all aboard time at 5 and they said yes. She said usually there is a line on the dock at 4:30 waiting on the last tender.

With NCL the next port call after Bar Harbor is either the end of the cruise in Boston or continuing in the

the other direction - Halifax.

In either event with a 5:00pm departure there is no need for speed or leaving on time - the ship is going to

putt putt all night to the next port call and still arrive on time.

As noted from previous posters if the SX is with NCL the ship will wait - - -

If the SX is with a private party NCL is not under any obligation to wait "BUT" will keep the tenders operating

if there are still stragglers waiting at the pier.

When you leave the ship your room cabin key card is swiped noting that you have left the ship - when you

return the reverse and you are accounted for as being on board. NCL has a pretty good idea of how many

late comers stragglers are left to return to the ship. Sometimes you will hear the ships HORN sounded as

a reminder that you need to return to the ship and be on board.

You don't read much of folks left behind - but quite a few stories of those that have made the tender or last

boarding call by their chin chin chin to an arousing applause of those on board observing.

 

Shore excursion and tour operators are keenly aware of their responsibility to get their customers back on the

ship timely - their business and reputation depends on it ! Private ventures you are on your own - be guided

accordingly.

YES the times have different applications - On Board - Departing

 

There is no rush to hoist the anchor and get underway - the next port call is easily within timely arrival the

next day.

There will be NCL crew members from the ship that were assisting guests at the dock where the tender

docks and these crew members will be on the last tender - they will have radio communication with the ship.

 

The tenders when they disembark the last guests onto the ship will have to go around the ship to their appointed

life boat station and await hoisting into their respective chamber above deck 7 (NCL DAWN).

 

The only thing that needs to be done to avoid missing the ship is to be at the dock before the last tender

leaves - NCL arranged SXs if late will communicate with ship to hold the tenders -

private tours are on their own and better have a Plan "B".

If that private tour has a large enough compliment more in likely NCL will wait

but as for individuals good luck - better have a fast canoe to catch the ship.

 

NCL knows how many guests are still out and need to be on board - remember scanning that room key card

leaving the ship - NCL is not going to leave a tender boat full of guests behind.
