btregoning Posted October 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2018 We found the most inexpensive way was to rent a car. We needed it for the one day when we returned also, so we just rented it for the entire time and parked it at the port.

LeeW Posted October 9, 2018 #11 Share Posted October 9, 2018 Were you able to get a one-night price at the Harbor House? Yes, but made it at least six months before January cruise. And nice lady at check-in gave us corner room overlooking port.

We lucked out once too, it was really something to see the ship arrive in the morning.
CapeGal Posted October 16, 2018 #13 Share Posted October 16, 2018 Does your hotel have a courtesy shuttle? Or do you plan to site see? If so, rent a car for the day.
ssb Posted October 17, 2018 #14 Share Posted October 17, 2018 Galveston’s trolley is an easy and convenient way to get around the island. Galveston’s trolley system has two loops. One servicing downtown and the other servicing the seawall. The transfer between loops is at 21st Street and Seawall Boulevard. That means you can ride to or from Downtown to Moody Gardens or Stewart Beach! The Seawall stops are located every few blocks between Stewart Beach and Moody Gardens. Downtown has several stops. The most popular being at Saengerfest Park and Hendley Green on The Strand. The cost is only $1 per person and that includes a transfer between loops. Minors accompanied by an adult ride free. Exact change is required, as drivers do not have change. So, be sure to have a dollar bill ready when you board. Enjoy your ride!

Web site was cruiseconnection.us but looks like that now points to Galveston Express. Still provides transportation between airport and hotels on the island, though.
