How far is airport in NOLA from the port?

Trying to figure out how long we need to give ourselves to get to the airport after our cruise. Anyone have info about any airport shuttles, or is it best to just take a cab?

Thanks!

This is from the airport website:
Ground Transportation
Taxicabs: A cab ride costs $28.00 from the airport to the Central Business District (CBD) for one or two persons and $12.00 (per passenger) for three or more passengers. Pick-up is on the lower level, outside the baggage claim area. There may be an additional charge for extra baggage.

Airport Shuttle: Shuttle service is available from the airport to the hotels in the CBD for $13.00 (per person, one-way), $26.00 (per person, round-trip), or $24.00 (per person, round-trip for two or more people when purchased at the airport). Three bags per person. Call 1-866-596-2699 or (504) 522-3500 for more details or to make a reservation. Advance reservations are required 48 hours prior to travel for all ADA accessible transfers. Please call well enough in advance for the specially-equipped shuttle to be reserved. For group reservations of 10 or more people please dial 1-888-432-7651. Ticket booths are located on the lower level in the baggage claim area.
Airport Limousine Service: (Available 12/27/02) Non Scheduled walk up limousine and sedan service available from the airport to the Central Business District (CBD) and the French Quarter. The rate is $35.00 for one or two people and $10.00 per additional passenger for up to 8 passengers (total vehicle capacity). Limousine information desks are located on the lower level baggage claim areas.

My Take
We just got off the Conquest last week. Here was our experience. We took a cab instead of the airport shuttle because we did not want to stop at other hotels for people on our shuttle along the way. The cab was the same money...$12 a person (6 people) and we had 2 cabs. Got to our hotel 6 blocks from the pier in about 20 minutes. From what I hear the ride can be much longer...45 minutes....during rush hour times.
