Cash advance in casino?

Haven't been on Carnival in a couple of years.  It used to be that you could use your S&S card to put cash in your casino account from your credit card on file.  At the time it was treated as a purchase, meaning no big fees charged for cash advance.  Does it still work this way?

Yep, same way. But remember those cautions about moving money to your bank at a slot machine, then cashing out? It's for real. I was drawing down large-ish amounts, then immediately tranfering it all to my casino bank, then just pulling out a little  at a time from the bank to play on the machine. The computer didn't recognize that I played all that money away. It only saw the large transfer right to my bank (which I could in theory have cashed out at that point). So I had to go to the casino desk to "unlock" my S&S card and listen to the mini-lecture about pulling money from my S&S card through the slot machine, yada yada... Lesson learned. Every time after that when I'd draw down large-ish amounts, I'd play off about ten spins or so before transferring it to my casino bank. No more problems.

If you get an cash at a table game there is a 3% charge. If you get it on the slots no charge.

I'm answering because no one else has.  A few years ago you could.  As I said above, I haven't been on Carnival in a few years.  Since nothing else has seemed to change, I would think (?) that is also probably the same.

Playing on the tables, you can get cash but they tell you up front that there will be a 3% charge. I've seen people charge anywhere from $20 to $500. I'm sure it has everything to do with your credit card limits. You can do the same on the machines but they have some kind of mechanism that monitors whether you play any or enough of that. Hubby has had his sail and sign card locked down on more than one occasion for putting money on the card and deciding to cash out for whatever reason. In other words, you cant use the machines to skirt the 3% charge.

It's $3000 per day you can charge to your S&S, or $5000 per day on Premier Casino cruises. They said the max in one charge was $3000 (whatever your amount + 3% has to be under $3000), so $2000 and $1000 are acceptable. I also found that it was PER PERSON, so for example my wife could do $3000 per day even when we are on the same account. And they treat amounts charged at the machine as a different $3000 limit from the $3000 charged at the table.

 

And, yes, they do preapprove the amount on your card just like any other vendor, so you do need to have enough available credit to support whatever amount you charge.
