Have to agree that our "join date" is rather prominent and an be misconstrued as being the date of the thread (as far as I can see there is no date when the thread was started unless you actually click on it).

Linda VH - your question had me wondering what the heck 3 card poker is.  Will have to look it up:classic_blink:

In terms of how the casino works, it is likely the same as the last time you were on Regent.  There have not been any changes.

MalbecWine,

This response is from DaveFR in another thread regarding getting cash aboard the ship. This way you do not have to pay any fees for taking out credit:

There are at least two ways to get cash on the ship. First, each person is entitled to get $400 per segment from the Purser at the Reception Desk. The $400 just goes on your account without any fees. It is not a cash advance for your credit card company but is just part of your combined purchases during your cruise. Note however that the $400 cash received does not offset any shipboard credit you might have. You still have to spend all the non-refundable credit you might have.

Second, using the gift order form on the Regent website, you can send yourself shipboard refundable credit that you can get any time during your cruise. I believe you have until 12 days before your cruise to send yourself shipboard credit.

Thank you for the answer.  We will just have our TA give them more credit for the casino as long as it is refundable which she will charge on the credit card.

We wish it were like Crystal where you can get a line of credit in advance with an application but oh well it is what it is.  $400.00 is not sufficient for our gambling.

If I recall correctly Miles, you are a long time Crystal cruiser who has not sailed on Regent for a long time.  In my opinion, you are in for some positive surprises.  From my observations, the casino is not a huge draw on Regent but there are some people that are staunch gamblers which is why Regent likely keeps the casino's onboard.  On Explorer, the casino is in a location that draws in gamblers (next to CR and the Explorer Lounge).  While we enjoy a bit of gambling, our experience has been that gambling on cruise ships tends to be a losers game.  Not sure why but we do not spend 1 cent on Regent ships.

Whew!  Glad that was cleared up.  We've been on Explorer 5+ times plus Voyager and Mariner a couple of times but never Navigator so I was confused.  I love the casinos and the people who work there are really good.   3 Card Poker, imo,  is fun and a great way to meet people.  You are only competing against the dealer so everyone is happy for everyone else

Linda, we love table games as well.  Black Jack which we are both trained in is our game and we do well.  Cruise lines don’t care if you count cards in BJ but you have a little advantage over the dealer.  If you leave the table at the end of the night you will have met some nice people even if you came out with even money.  It’s knowing when to get up and call it a night.  We know very little about poker or craps so we stick with what we know and have been playing for thirty years including tournaments in Las Vegas.

I am leaving for a tournament in Vegas to a tournament at the Wynn Encore tomorrow.  Some of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society as this is breast cancer month so we will all be wearing pink.
