"First Unread"

Used to be able to click on a thread, and go to the first unread post. I can't seem to find a way to do this now. 

Is it still possible? Please teach me!

Simply hover your cursor over that blue dot and left click.

Brings you to the last post which was unread by you.......if there IS one .

Before clicking on the thread, hover your mouse over the solid blue dot to the left of the title.  You'll see "Go to first unread post."   Click on that and . . . voila!

But what if I have bookmarked a page(a roll call),and when goto the bookmark,I am on page one of the thread?

Pretty crappy for a newly redesigned web site.. Should be easier not harder.

not really.  Old site just had to click in last unread

And new system one just has to click/tap on last unread icon, how is that not the same?

Think they need to re think this whole thing and go back to the old way.  New is not always better.

When you are in the main forum   next to the thread  with new posts you will see  a blue dot or star

click on that it will take you to  the last unread post for you

No, not quite the "same".

 

One could *immediately* SEE where to click to go to the unread posts.  One didn't need to need to be told "hover over a blank blue dot in case hovering will tell you anything other than that you *have* some new posts there".

It's a lot easier if one doesn't need to start hovering on every little symbol "in case" there is some secret/hidden function.

 

And the "post preview" or "go back to edit mode" is very inconveniently situated.  It used to be in the same general area as the last line typed.  Now one has to scroll to the top.  And of course, that "symbol" is hardly universally recognized as "click here to view preview".

Likewise, a black circle with an X in the middle suggests "CANCEL", not "go back to edit mode"....

ETA:  It's also nice sometimes to see the very FIRST post or maybe two, for the context.  This blue button bypasses that entirely.

It took me several years to realize that the relatively small icon to the left of the title in the old system was a jump to the first unread post. No *immediately* about it.

Why make it complicated at all.  The old site was much better and they should go back to it as they made a big mistake with this.  This is petty bad.  Hope they did not pay too much money for this.

Change can be difficult, but the new site is so much better.

I don't even know what you guys are talking about. For the most part everything seems to work like it did before, with a few tweaks.
