keeping in touch on the Anthem

What is the best way for two people who both purchased an internet package to keep in touch with each other on the Anthem?  One iphone one not.

If you both have WiFI calling enabled on your phones, then turn off cellular and text over the WiFi.

On that ship the best way is with the Royal IQ APP..   No need for any internet package, cost is around $8 per person/device per cruise.  It provides messaging and calling from one user to another, no additional cost.

in this case we both need wifi and would rather not add the extra $8 fee if we can avoid it

You don't need to buy anything - just use an app like Google Voice, FB Messenger, etc and you can text each other all day long.
