looking for a beach recommendation

You basically have two beach choices with some amenities, which I assume your group wants? Cane Garden Bay and Brewers Bay are both a 20 minute, $8pp group safari taxi (discounted fares for children under 11). You can also request private van or sedan taxis at the dock for a slightly higher fare if anyone doesn’t want to ride in the open-sided safari-type taxi.

As far as a larger group with toddlers Cane Garden Bay would offer the most amenities. But if you want a less busy vibe Brewers is gorgeous with fewer amenities.

The water at either beach can be smooth as glass or very rough with high waves, and since the calmness of the water is affected by sea and wind conditions it’s hard to predict for your day.

You can quickly find more details on each beach in other threads on this forum.

Not sure about lounge/umbrella rentals at Brewers, CGB for sure.

What are you looking for??? We would choose Brewers for a nice quieter beach day with drinks, food may not yet be available. If you prefer the crowds from your ship CGB offers more amenities (so it is more popular)...

Lol..I understand!

If no current reply you may want to pose the Brewers lounger question on TTOL just to be sure, Tortola residents there can give feedback that is current. I started a beach updates thread there to have updates in one thread, but unfortunately updates have been added in several different threads do you will need to pose the question...

And Long Bay (Beef Island) was a quiet, secluded beach that now has lounge rentals and amenities (so sad!), not sure f these are provided through ship excursions or first come...

Yes you can change at CGB. There are different places to rent lounges and have drinks and lunch. Taxis are readily available at the dock and at CGB and a shared safari taxi is ~$8pp each way.

As far as how much cash to carry, we like Myett’s for lunch,  and as an example of prices (in US$) you will pay $4.50 for beer, $7 for wine,  $9 for painkiller, bushwhacker, or rum punch, and $12 - $16 for a great fish sandwich or burger. And of course lounge/umbrella rentals are extra. So take enough cash, or just use a card.
