Passport validity

Recommended Posts

The funny part is for most ports you get in and out of the country without even showing the passport just your card which is pretty odd when you think of it.  If you have time why not go ahead and renew so you have one less thing to stress about?

The port authorities are given the passenger manifest which likely includes the documentation used by the passenger to board. Since the cruise lines do a good job of making sure everyone has the appropriate documentation there is usually no need for a passenger to meet with them.

Also, cruise ships are pretty good about making sure everyone leaves with them.  Or if not, letting the port authorities know the person did not return to the ship.

I imagine, if you just left, and did not come back to the port to try to catch your ship, you would then be flagged as an illegal entrant to that country.
