Bridgetown on a Sunday... in December

I've read that most shops are closed on Sundays, but also read (albeit a very old post) that in the run up to December a lot of places are open.

 

We'll be there Sunday 16th December, so only a week from Christmas.  Is there any point in us heading into the town to have a look around, or should we just find a beach bar to hang out at?

Just checked Mount Gay Rum factory which is close to Rascals.  They closed on Sunday it says.  Too bad as wanted to go there.  Guess will just plan on hanging out Rascals few hours then probably back to ship.  Am sure the shops at port will be open though.

We will be there on a Sunday in November. The largest beach - Browne's is a 15-20 minute walk from the terminal ( or very short cab ride).  $20 will get you 2 chairs, umbrella and wi-fi.  For another $20 they will take you snorkelling a few hundred yards off the beach - there are always turtles to swim with and there are several shipwrecks in shallow water.

If you book a turtle/shipwreck snorkel excursion from the cruise ship - this is where they take you!

There are restaurants, change facilities, showers.

Also, the walk is along the main city Bridgetown - most shops will be open.

Maybe it's different in the Xmas run up but we have been twice on a Sunday to Bridgetown and the shops were most definitely not open in the town. The shops in the cruise port were though.

No doubt we will find something to do.  OH isn't one for sitting around in the sun but I'm sure we will be able to amuse ourselves.... we will be on hols after all!  🙂

We've cruised to Barbados many times and spent a week there once and love the island.  That said, there isn't much to do downtown, shopping or otherwise.

Kiwi,  are you sure you are on Eclipse.   I'll be in Barbados on Sunday 16th but my ship is Silhouette.
