On Cruise Critic? Clicked above and saw a few comments but I think you are seeing something I haven't yet found. Wow, that is not good. I wonder what the damage is. Wendylaguna Posted November 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 6, 2018 I was aboard..the ship broke from it's moorings in La Spezia. Lost a gangway. It slid backwards and hit another cruise ship. No damage to that ship, and very little damage to the Constellation. No one was evacuated. But, because we were going to be very late getting to Civetavecchia, they put passengers on busses ( at midnight) who needed to get to FCO. It was a 6 1/2 hour bus ride through the night. Communication from Constellation captain was inadequate..and organization to get on the buses very chaotic. I was not impressed as to how it was all handled. No compensation as yet. ( I am not holding my breathe.) If the delay going to Civitevecchia was soley due to weather then I understand. However if the delay was caused by the collision then Celebrity needs to step up and make it right. Of course I am sure I'll never know the real cause for the delay. Perhaps you noticed that the Costa ship remained in port as well, and didn't leave until the next day either. Similar delays occurred with several ships up and down the Italian coast due to the high winds. It's not just dangerous to sail in such weather - it's also very dangerous to try to navigate out of or into a crowded port in such situations. Also, the collision was due to the ship breaking free of its moorings, which was caused by the weather. I can't see why that is Celebrity's fault.

Hi WEndy, Hoping you and Maddie made it home safely. It seems peoples experiences differed wildly... There was a dent on the Costa ship, saw someones picture, but mostly cosmetic and our window washing stuff fell off the ship. I agree that the communication was poor all around. We were lucky to have stayed on board, been transported to the Hilton, Put up overnight and fed and rebooked for very early the next day. They put us on the shuttle to the airport too. It was hard to communicate with the ladies doing all that but it got done and we arrived home on the 31st around 3:00, The weather was certainly to blame and the damage to those towns is just awful! I doubt we will see anything but a letter from Celebrity would be appreciated. Thanks for sharing our shuttle... take care. Sue

Celebrity ship hit a docked ship of course it’s there fault, if your car was parked and another car hit it , it would be there fault
